The reaction innovations skinny dipper has been working good for me as a trailer on swim jigs. Good action and pretty durable. I have found a spot on a lake Ive been going to lately and I was wondering if you had any suggestions of what to use. Its 14-18 ft deep and grassy/hydrilla bottoms. It seems like the bass are right on top of the grass near the bottom? Got any ideas of what to throw? (There are a BUNCH of lunkers there so im not afraid to use big baits)
@MRbassmasterman If you're already catching swim jig fish I'd stick with it. Drop down to the 3/4 ounce California Swim Jig so you can probe that deep water and try to stay right about the grass.
@MRbassmasterman Personally, I'm not a huge fan of BIG spinnerbaits. They work, but I'm a lot more likely to get down there with the swim jig or swimbait. That said, if your confidence is in the spinnerbait, that is what you need to throw.
Wes, it will work great for you out there! I've got quite a few friends now fishing them in Texas with phenomenal results! That is a Dirty Jigs Tackle 1/2 oz No-Jack Flippin' Jig and the color is "Crappie". Check them out, you'll be blown away.
That's an attractive jig, what brand is it? I didn't catch that in your video. I'm going to start using some of your methods here in TX, I don't think many people use jigs here the way you Cali guys do... at least no one I know does...
The EZ Shad is a great bait! However, I'm really not a fan of the saltwater version. The different tail doesn't move the jig like the freshwater tail does.
Mrbassmasterman, I really don't have that problem. I may thin a weedguard now and then but I don't have a problem with hookup ratio. I used to remove my weedguards as well but I was shown the error of my ways. That weed guard makes all the difference in keeping fish hooked all the way to the boat.
You dont lose a bunch or fish with the brush guard on? I miss at least 50% of bass when I keep the brush guard on there, I cut it off of my jigs I get a way better hook up ratio.
i like the EZ shad also it has more of a vibe than a thump it seems, seems to get better for me also, if you want more of that thump but still like the profile of the EZ shad i boil them also, i use the saltwater versions since they are already to go as well as have the stub head for jig head rigging as well as on a jig
great info, what size blade would you use on 1/4 oz. where do you get your blades and what brand name? thnx
