  • is it possible to make a kill_aliens obj with multiple alien types? i mean i want to kill for example 2 drones and 2 parasites and i want it to be in only 1 objective. if that's possible then plz tell me how. thx

    asw_vehicle_jeep - Creates a drivable Jeep.

    asw_bloodhound - Creates a dropship used to deploy, support and retrieve marines.

    That would be awesome :)

    I don't actually think asw_vehicle_jeep is finished, I don't really see it in the official maps..

    asw_bloodhound is the old version of the bloodhound (I don't think it does anything), for the one you see in Deima Surface bridge you want a prop_dynamic with the model dropship.mdl

    Also because I see the word stairs i'll say that the stairs are just models, make a prop_static entity and search for stairs in filter.

    Also thanks for the tutorials, combined with some others and i've started work on a 'first time mapping' campaign, but the lighting is being an *ss and the map won't start as a black night, so for now its daytime, with all the 'night lights' on.

  • @Metrulizer make an entity then right click and type in asw_prop_laserable. then choose a model and it should be good.

  • Hi I have problem. I made map, I run it, but my character in the game can not move - i can jump or turn around but I stay on one place. I tryed to delete and create new info_player_start but it does not help. In game I see in console red message "failed to find a pmarine spawn point."

  • @michal1dlouhy hi i discovered what was wrong with the movement - the class of Snow object changed (maybe I did? smohew) . WHen I changed it back to proper class, everything was ok.

  • Dude, do you know how to place props, if i place props with the name: prop_detail and i run the map i get only the error .mdl :(.

  • @macquine1998 asw has barely no prop_detail

    make them prop_static and it will work!

    (ps in the model viewer you can see if the model can be used as detail/static/dynamic)

  • @macquine1998 if u just need to place something like a table or a create, try using prop_static

  • @MuhahaSP ur the guy from the stairs? maybe ill make one, but not just on stairs, if you want it, go collect some things people want (from all my sdk vids :P) should keep you busy for a while xD

  • now i got a question after viewing all your tutorials and others i came by a common problem... weapons go though any wall or door i make i dont know why this is because i figured if i make a wall it should be solid .....

    is there a way to make them solid?

  • @phoenix352 no its something in the engine which makes the laser etc go through walls, make them thick enough and then it wont go trough :/

  • @maxovitsj well that sucks.... now making a thin wall makes your maps look unprofessional ... btw i just tried it in offline mod and it happens in the official campaign as well.... played this game for 20+ hours and only now i noticed this ...

  • I have an intresting issues ASW_Objective_kill_aliens objective seems like it is not complete or i am not doing something right, the issue is with the alien type ranger and mortarbug they seem to not have the count down on the uper left hand corner (i have multible objectives and they are all set to 10 kills. Any help or letting me know that this is a current issues would be welcome.

  • You should make a tut on making a dedicated server, my maps done and I want my friends to play it with me, but I don't wanna pay 6 dollars a month for a host company. I just want it to appear on the steam server browser so people can play it for a couple of hours :/

    Don't you just need to make it into a .vpk and host it normally on your own computer?

    Then at least you can play it with your friends. Or if you send your friends the .bsp :D

    I render the map. Then I open up alien swarm dedicated server, make it run that map. I can join it fine, but my friends need to have the map and it doesn't show up on the officail steam server thing. Is there any way to make it start auto downloading like it does in CSS? Or do they need to have the map?

  • @QwertySkill They need to have the map. If they have the map but can't join, you don't have the right ports open on your broadband router. Google up which ports needs to be opened :)

  • 1. My objectives don't show up on the left side :( 2. can you make more than one asw_objective_escape or is only 1 allowed?

  • @AvatarFosco 1. They show up when they are updated for me. Otherwise I wouldn't know how to make them show all the time :P

    2. There is no need for more then one asw_objective_escape. You can just make a trigger elsewhere and make an output to the same asw_objective_escape.

    Do you have more objectives?

    If so you must first complete those in order for the escape objective to work.

  • You rock max! I've been trying hard to add a custom scoundscript including a .wav file but cannot get it to work. Could your next tutorial include some information about ambient_generic and soundscapes perhaps?

  • @maxovitsj I'd love if you did that. I would like to add some of my own sounds and couple them with triggers and such.

  • @mrpeanutsofdoom You would need to make a folder in the directory where your map is. Make sure the path in the entity options go to that path and you can add any sound you like. I've done it myself for counter strike source mapping im sure it will work in the same way. When your map is done and you want to release it, for CSS mapping I used a program called "Pakrat" which compressed everything I wanted into 1 map file. I think .vkp does that for you.

    Maybe your next tutorial can be on how to export a map so other people can play it, and how to make a full campaign. Like after you finish 1 map you'll go to the second map of the campaign.
