Appreciated your mention of Loreena McKennitt - that's something I'd love to hear. (I can imagine her singing, "of Sol's chariot, whose sword of light...") If only she (or at least someone comparable) had put to music "where the waves grow sweet..." The song in the film elicited none of its wonder, at least to me.
PrinceRilian, I have not seen the movie but based on the analysis of both you and GlumPuddle, it sounds like they messed up big time. So far, it sounds like the only movie they came close to being true to the book with is LWW, and even there, they had a couple of issues. With the fact they screwed up PC and VDT so badly, it makes me wonder if they should even attempt SC. What is your input on that theory?
@BuckWilliams17 I would not want this crew (especially the writers) working on the Silver Chair. I feel they would butcher it.
I think PC is a better adaptation than LWW and may do a video on that sometime since people often ask me why. Regardless, both were mostly good adaptations, but I cannot say the same for Dawn Treader.
You hit the nail on the head with labeling the movie 'humanistic'. I've been trying to figure out for weeks why the movie didn't feel like Narnia: I blamed the pacing, I blamed the terrible script, but I think you got it - the center of the story was the individual, not Aslan. You're right, Lewis would never have written it that way, and I think he would have been appalled at this adaptation.
I've been trying to decide whether I like the movie or not for weeks now. You brought up some excellent points that I hadn't thought of. I think this video has finally made me able to decide.

I cannot express in words how much I was caught off guard by the awfulness. I never dreamed it would be that bad.

*U* Beautiful lead-in! Loved it!
I HATED this movie... They ruined EVERYTHING, for the MAJOR part (and I saw it TWICE just to be sure), and I CAN'T STAND IT! XC Rock on!

I wish I could thumbsup this video multiple times! Great analysis, Rilian!
I was so disappointed by the VDT movie. C.S. Lewis is rolling over in his grave right now... :(

I will not be able to see it before next year in my town. But after what I've seen I'm not impressed.

Totally agree with you.
I was soo disappointed. It was so cheesy, choppy, and undeveloped.
At this rate, I don't want them to make SC if they're going to make SC like they made VDT.
