Played that as a kid. Finished every track with time left except North which I could never finish. The spots of the legs were not correct on the road map either.
I always thought east was the hardest track. I did pick up a helpful move from this video, though.
Now, why is there only high scores on the first two tracks on the final screens (41:37-42.10)? Did the guy play some of the tracks several times, and edit them into one video later?
How can you not find this game fun! Thank you to the movie clip upload so many memories. Never before was kicking a football( i use to be in creases of laughter hearing the sound) with a buggy or skillfully flying through the air by hitting a log to fly into a TIME banner ever so fun and original! I was happy to have the Atari version! Clearly though - no offence the person in the clip didnt like driving with one wheel! that was skill! ( when you hit the logs/ small rocks)
Partially agree, i played this both on my C64 and later on the Amiga which i got in feb 1990.
It was new and awesome for some time, then it got really redundant i think. :-/
But thats how it was with a lot of games back then, well even yrs later when i was playing the first Tomb Raider on PS, the first 2 or 3 lvls were cool, then it became a treadmill from there. ;-)
I loved this game,I first had it for the C64 and later bought the Amiga version.
I liked it so much because it was one of the first games I ever played(Also when I hd the C64 it was the only game that was reliable and would work every time)
One of the main reasons why my parents bought me an an Amiga was to replace my C64 which had persistent errors.
ya i remember this game for my amiga 500,but i never understood why you got time bonus flags on the final lap but my favorite games for amiga where Moonstone, beast 1 and the Chaos engine which was awesome.
@LeotheTiger1776
It happens when you mux files with MKVMerge (which YT doesnt seem to like)

Hard to believe this is a quarter of a century old but still as addictive and enjoyable as ever! Still unable to complete North, dammit!

That's strange. When I first saw this video, it played fine. Now the sound is way off-sync.

Unfortunately alot of our old videos have that problem.

This game just wasn't fun (enough).
Played it a few times, and then formatted the disk an put on something else (lotus 3 is much better)
Polonpo 2 years ago
The first: Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge werent released until 1990.
Lotus Challenge 3 came out (in 1992) like 7 yrs after Buggy Boy (in 1985).
So putting this gmae up against Lotus games aint reasonable. ;-)

@ SizZ1eR:
you have a point.
Still, even at the time got not much enjoyment out of it. Though it surely isn't the worst gmae in the world by a long shot.

Does somebody know how to put it in MAME32 emulator?
empi80 3 years ago 3
Well, if you want to play Buggy Boy at home, take the version for the C=64. Much better steering and more speed. =)

preferred the c64 version.. tuff game to port though , as I played the arcade and it's different in aspects.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good game but the arcade original (now supported by MAME) plays so much smoother it almost feels like a different game.
