As of recently Nintendo does present some quality as well as realitively new concepts to the gaming market before it's competetors at more than reasonable prices, like when the Wii came out it was much cheaper than the PS3 or 360. Also, they are very lazy and/or cheap in their programing, the lack of creates intresting glitches, bugs, and game content that is easily manipulated which inhances the family gaming experience. But I must say, their online gaming server have ALOT to be desired.

Better cpu? More colors on-screen? It may be a great little sytstem for collectors,but it doesn't hold a candle to GBA,both technically and in game support.Plus ,both systems need strong lighting since their screen is not back-lit.You used a light bulb to show the screen properly ,right?

@johnwx777 I'm not going to defend or attack either system here, just give a reason for why a light bulb had to be used. Viewing screens and recording screens are two VERY different matters. You could be able to see a screen perfectly well with the naked eye and a camcorder could barely pick it up at all under the same conditions. As such, either extra lighting or indeed a pitch black room are often needed to record certain screens.

Pocket Fighter also came out on Ps1 & Sega Saturn. Lol, I don't think that the Wonderswan or any of its successor's would make Pocket Fighters look as good as it does on the Ps1 or Sega Staurn.

My comments were meant as banter not to start a full scale words war. I have issues with Nintendo for their ethics and also for the fact of what they have been doing to the gaming world. Look at how many law suits they have lost by trying to control the market. There are arguments for both consoles but as far as trying to make a console for gamers Bandai won on ideas and ideals but lost out badly on sales. These days only the big boys survive can afford to survive which is not good for gamers.

great video. i've been trying to complete my handheld collection in recent years and my swancrystal arrived in the mail yesterday with xi little. i adore this little handheld. its a shame a lot of comments here are fanboy bashing. i just love handheld games in general! i still take out my neo geo pocket color and do some snk v capcom on the bus when my ds haven't been getting good games.

anyways, do u have any wonderswan games you can recommend that doesnt require much japanese comprehension?

@steve666b Hey, man, they improved it in the re-release model. I can see what you mean, man, but let's face it: even giants like Nintendo can make a misstep. Should I have had to buy a new GBA SP just so I could see the damn thing? No, but I was willing to. The game library for the console is undeniably superior to any other handheld then or now and was a hardware juggernaut, all at a decent price. That being said, the Swan family are fantastic and should be looked into by gamers everywhere.

You say it's better than the Advance, but it's not. Just listen to the sound. Its just about the same as the NES. Plus, the Swan can't handle as much gameplay as the GBA can, it was very limited. Ive seen a few games that were on the WonderSwan that were re-released on the GBA, and the GBA versions were better.

Um... the GBA is a a good deal faster than the Wonderswan processor-wise and the graphics hardware is ton better too. Very few games came out for the wonderswan that use the vertical format. I like the system and I like the few games that did come out for it.. but saying that it's better then the GBA is just a little silly.

@MegaMan7045 Nintendo hand-held consoles have never been batter than the BAndai ones. THe Wonderswan used a 16 bit NEC V30 processor, while the GAmeBoy and GameBoy color used a 8 bit one. Bigger screen, batter image and sound quality makes it a portable console better than GAme Boy.

The SwanCristal uses an updated version of the processor and has back light screen (the first GB advance didn't hve it, only the SP version and MIcro), so I'm sorry, but Wonderswan is better than Game Boy...

@kurtzsoftair Very true, but the Game boys had a massive libary of games that the Wonderswan had a hard time matching. In fact thats one of the reasons why these Game boy attackers failed. Nintendo had a lot more games and in many cases a lot better games (however I do admit that putting FF on the wonderswan was a great Idea). Saying that just because the graphics and features on wonderswan where better doesn't make it a better system.

@MegaMan7045 Play any racing game on the GBA and then play either of the Final Lap releases and see how limited the GBA is. THis is not supposed to be a video about bashing the GBA, but the Nintendo fanboys think it is. The Wonderswan was real innovation and design. It was never going to be as successfull as the GBA as Bandai cannot compete withNintendo in advertising. The Wsawn sound is fine.

The Wonderswan looks like a very solid system and if it had come out in 96 instead of 99 I think it would have kicked the Game Boy's ass. Though I can't honestly say that it was better than the GBA. I had the Game Gear back in the day and it irked me that Nintendo just kept releasing the same hand held in different packaging. I would have loved to have upgraded to something like this.
