That gorilla is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen! I'd love to be one of those sicentest, how often can you cay you have a gorilla friend that TALKS to you?
I laughed at the end, when it shows Koko with the kitten on her back, just like a baby gorilla. The fact that she ducked when she went through the door was awesome, though. :)
i love koko and i admire you for all you did. but i think you're a bit selfish. she's old and she should have a baby, that's what female gorillaz do in nature, it's an instinct, and you must respect that.she has a lot of love to give. she's suffering because of that..you can't have her learning signs all day, i mean it's good but she must do what she feels and she wants a baby soon, she's a female and she's getting old, that's her wish, please let her, time passes..:(. greetings from argentina
@florhh14 I think everyone working there knows that and more, and are trying their absolute best to provide a baby for Koko. You should have realized that.
how in gods name could anyone kill these lovely awesome amazing animals they need shooting themselves then use their hands as fucking ashtrays sorry about the language but it makes me so angry they are the most beautiful creatures in the whole world enough said
So cute how at :42 Koko moves the kittens away from the casters of the chair to keep them safe. So sweet she gave a cat stuffed animal for the kittens to play with. I look forward to more Koko and kitten videos, pretty please!!
Koko is just so wonderful. I love how Penny has made it possible for us to know what she is thinking at certain times. Koko is so loving and gentle with the kittens. Thank you for sharing.
exactly why aren't they giving koko a baby to raise? Wouldn't that be easy to set up? Isn't that the most logical thing to do? Isn't she getting old????
This video is amazing brings out different emotions fear for the kittens and humans in the room because this was the first time watching it then joy and happiness when I realized that koko is a kind and gentle soul which just happens to be a gigantic intelligent gorilla. Awesome !!!!!
I love the moment when Penny says to Koko that the kitten will be scraped off if she enters her room and Koko seems to bend down lower as she passes the door to avoid harming the kitty. I watched three times and, to me, Koko does seem to bend lower then she needs to pass the door.
It's so heart warming to see the gentleness she has with the kittens. Definitely something people can learn from her.
I love Koko but I don't like the idea of giving her kittens. >:
I mean, she's showing the kitten things that they don't comprehend [eating cake, offering them toys], and that they can't respond to, which has got to be confusing and maybe even frustrating for her. I just don't think it's a good surrogate. I think she sees them more as pets than babies.
I'm sure there are orphaned gorillas out there- it'd be great to get her an orphaned baby instead of trying to set her up with a mate. :3
@shinocicada Koko has a history of being a mother to kittens for a very long time, back to the 1980s. She hasn't killed one yet. I think they're in the clear.
What? Obviously she isn't going to hurt them- how'd you even get that from what I typed?
I'm saying for her there's NO comparison to a REAL baby gorilla and that I doubt she sees them as her babies as much as her pets. She's also at the age where fertility goes downhill. I just think it'd be a smart move to give her an ORPHANED baby gorilla. <:3 Re-read what I typed.
@shinocicada Wrong. Koko wasn't the one giving her toys, and it was the humans. In fact Koko moved the toy away. And kittens doesn't eat cake that's why they're not responding to it and just because they don't respond to a food doesn't mean the owner shouldn't have animals. I've seen a human gave a dog some meatball and the dog didn't respond to it, simply because the dog was hungry, doesn't mean it's confusing or frustrating, Koko can even understand that and you can't.
@NonEternal I think Koko is just under 40 years old (when Koko was the National Geographic cover story in latter 1970's she was about 4 years old, I think?) There are rehabilitated/ released to the wild orangutan mothers having new babies at Koko's age in the rainforest. So, it is not impossible...
@NonEternal Nope! Koko is about 34-35 now, and could well reproduce into her 40s and 50s. The only reason it's rare in the wild is because stupid poachers typically don't let gorillas live out their full lifespan.
@F4v0ur wait, forgive me my old comment, she's not. I just read the website wrong.. Michael is dead. I doubt she is going to get a baby, she is really old now and in capture. but would be awesome if she did
@gurkenhamster You scared me with the first comment! Yeah, I know Koko probably is too old to have a baby but even if she was she'd have help from Penny and the baby gorilla would be another addition to the sign language gorillas. :)
LOL the end. The Koko videos that I get occasionally on my feed are the most interesting ones. Thank you so much for sharing. I'd love to see Koko signing some more what she's feeling/thinking.
