i don't know what this song is about, but it sounds so great. plus i really love to see the clancy bros/tommy makem, with my favourite band, the dubliners. i really like the song since i first heard it. Good Bless them all! Heaven is a better place now with liam, paddy, tom, bobby, tommy, ronnie, luke, ciaran and bob :)
Jeez, and look at Paddy and Drew in the front row singing as well...now they're all together with Luke having a rippin hooley!!! God keep the lot of ye, lads...keep ye playing all night for Him.
@beepollen1 yes and no, the tune is a scottish one, the modern lyrics are Irish based on the original scottish lyrics written 300 years ago. A bit like danny boy an irish song with lyrics written by an english man so really is that tune Irish or English? However the tune here is more scottish trad than irish
I miss them and loved their music for more than 40 years. I never tire of it or them. Thanks, boys, for some many hours of wonderful music. And thanks to those who post these videos.
u stupid american!!!!!!!!!! do not post comments on a page when u aint got a clue what u are talking about.. bloody welsh.. one of d greatest Irish singers ever
RIP, Liam Clancy, one of the last of a small band of torpedoes who believed that life is a wondrous journey with a grace and beauty well worth singing about.
Your reunited now with your brothers and friend tommy, farewell liam clancy may the lord have mercy on your beautiful sole ...he bloody well will..R.I.P.....
Dont like the way that liam clancy calls out the words of the song before they are sung near the end of the song. Like that annoying person finishing ur sentences for u before you can say them.
My God!! I totally missed John Sheahan and Barney McKenna playing along! I'm so used to Tommy Makem playing the whistle that I never looked. Oh what a great treat!!

I'm from Texas USA, and I also come from a long Welsh background. These guys kinda wrench my heart and make me proud of my Welsh ancestory.
These guys prove that the Welsh Celtic singers are the best in all the world.
