I think that all of these things are great but they don't help if you have absolutely nothing in common with the people you are needing to converse with. Supposing you're great at your job and you're at a party where you have the ability to mingle and network with others who may help get you a position or something. However, you're from very different back grounds. You can only ask so many questions before you stop being able to listen and worry you are sounding like a buffoon who knows nothing.

This is litaraly the exact same thing everyone EVER has told me to do to help with my social anxiety. THIS IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I already know that my fear that I'm not important enough to talk to a certain person is irrational, but that doesn't stop it from being there. I know that the way I stand can effect the conversation, but I can't get myself to just stand normaly. Lastly, her advice about asking more questions instead of talking about yourself? My anxiety is so bad I have problems
