Once I got done watching EVA, I wanted to headbutt the TV and start shit on fire. It was a good show up until ep. 18 where Misato slept with her ex. That's where it went all down hill for me. The last three-four episodes almost drove me nuts!

Well, I kind of disagree with what you said about the whole "Mind Fuck" statement. It's more of an acid-trip ,kind of like "Pink Floyd The Wall". Both were written in a sublime/horrific setting with both creaters, Anno and Waters, that were having a spell of depression. And the animation had the same scene of sublime. IF you did watch Pink Floyd The Wall, you would probobly see what I mean. But over all, the series was awesome, and the same goes for The Wall.
death is basically a recap of the tv series, and rebirth is kind of the first half of the end of eva movie. Basically the end of eva movie is the only movie you need to watch

Yes, there is something said to that effect. However, the word "angel" is not quite the correct word. The Japanese word used is more directly translated to "disciple" but Gainex specifically told translators to use "angel." Ultimately whether the angels are working for God is irrelevant for several reasons. 1) The religious terms and symbols are making no larger commentary. 2) The show clearly states that it is not known exactly where the angels come from and what their origins are.
@ngamer3k We also dont know where SEELE comes from. It could be possible SEELE could be an extra-terrestrial or even interdimensional gov't that sent the angels.

i wouldn't say shinji is a god you know i mean the choice came up that he could end it all or start the world anew without the viewer really noticing so that doesnt necasserally mean he is a god. and also the last scene where he sees his mother i believe is him passing to the physical world while she moves to the spirit world. and there is alot more to that so i wouldn't really say it is simple. :)
a kid finds out his dad is in charge of a giant military orginization he becomes a pilot of giant robot meets the other pilots they kill a couple angels while his dad conspires with another organization to create the third impact (a giant explosion to destroy the entire human race) to be reborn as a single allpowerful allknowing entity/god but he is betraying them so the human race can live on and so he can be with his dead wife. that sums up the series i will continue to the movie.(1 more post

I geuss the big wigs of the Eva companies want humans to evolve faster, so they use powers of the Angels to break the mini-sheilds around our souls and reduces us to orange goo and into one giant entity. Its really weird stuff... makes your mind trip a bit. I really dont know why I even care, I dont watch anime and hate most of it but ive got a soft spot for deep storylines. The makers (or one of them) had depression so I can see why its so weird in the ending.
what i dont understand about evangelion is why it is so popular and why people say there is a deep meaning behind the story and all that. when i watched it alls i saw was a boy, who in my view is a complete pansy and him struggling to destroy the angels.

If you're talking about Rebuild, yes it is four animated movies that are retelling Eva so it would be clearer to the masses. However, there has been rumblings of a Hollywood produced live-action film. Since it seems Rebuild might deviate from the original series too far for my liking, I'm going to pretend it doesn't exist for now.
As a reference to the Apocryphal stories and Evangelion is a half-breed between Mankind and Nephilim(fallen angels,demons). Their physiology abandons all the logical rules of living on Earth and so throws off the local population's chances at survival. Leading to the Great Flood to drown them all slowly as they cannot float and their blood is presumably fire. Noah, was the messenger of their destruction and also an albino which probably meant he was also one.......
...one himself. In Evangelion Anno goes as far to imply that life in the local area of The Flood was saved by using an Evangelion's "womb" as an Ark, which would imply that the giant "boat" Noah had to build was simply a coffin.

Problem is I don't know that much about them myself. All I know is that just about every last dollar (yen) has been sucked out of this series through various spin-offs and retellings. But I might do a video on Rebuild of Evangelion if I can find out more info, or better, have a chance to watch it.
Rebuild seems like a revisionary work, more than a straight remake, I was kind of hoping they would do a straight remake with a different take on the ending. Anyway, as for questions... What themes did you pick get from the series overall? Do you think the TV ending and EoE both have a different message to get across?

I understand I am doing more reasearch into the
Eva series. I am reading the Angelic Days I think. I wish there could more people who would come on out and do this.
For some reason I cannot get Death and Rebirth, I got it up to the part where it is Shinji is about to kiss Asuka in her sleep.
But the movie it is supposed to be a four part thing right? is it live action, or animated?
