I saw Carl at a "Solid Gold" taping in 1985...he sang "Hold Me" with a new band. I was the biggest fan in the audience, and he acknowledged my cheers at the end! Love the real Beach Boys.....
Brian was Trying to outdo his own Pet Sounds and mabey Sargent Pepper... Thats a lot of pressure..... but it all ended well, he did "THe Smile Concert in England, and recieved his accolades... Just My Opinion... But On Some of his music, Its almost like listening to something Miraculous....And there is a lot of Hate for Mike Love, but Mike was perfect for the beach boys, not a sensitive bone in his Body, Perfect Front man for the Group....Id love to see all of them together again..Just Once...
Yes, Carl sang it On the 45, Obvoiusly Brain Wrote it. My opinion { I love the beatles] But Brian Wilson was Just as good if not better. Really all the beatles could write and did write Not Just John And Paul, But Brian was almost, All By Himself.. Mike Love chipped in here and there, and Of course Van Dyke Parks came in 67 and helped with the Lyrics, But Brian was almost peerless, as far as singer, songwriter, Producer, Also, I think smile was to complex... and rejected by the B Boys
Carl Wilson was MUCH more handsome than many of today's stars, from film and music, and he was such a gentle soul, never a tantrum when things didn't go his way, unlike some could mention!!God rest your soul, beautiful man.
WOW, two of my all time favorites singing one of the most beautiful Beach Boys songs ever. I miss Carl and his tender vocal style. Marilyn can sing anything......
Who the hell is Marylin Wilson??? I know a Mary Wislon from the Supremes and Mary and Marylin look NOTHING alike. Please tell me who Marilyn Wilson is.
I miss Carl. He was the sweet vocal of the Beach Boys. If you get a chance to see the Beach Boys now, skip it. To parade around the survivors without Carl and Dennis, will its not the same band is it? Lovely Marilyn can sing anything with anybody, nice clip.
The most perfect duet ever done on " Solid Gold"; Carl as always, had such total class, and that voice--no one else ever did this like he did. Wolfsky9
WoW!Solid Gold!I thought this was Great!Miss McCoo didn't diva this or other duets with other singers.Simple IS better.I really miss those days when people respected each others art.Now its about showboating with the absence of talent.
I started singing along, and then the tears came. What a beautiful, beautiful, duet. Carl, Marilyn, you two were magic together, God Bless you forever. We miss you Carl, more and more as the years go by.. Wolfsky9
I taped this off of TV years ago and still love it. Only one thing : the keyboard plays the wrong kind of diminished chord at the intro. God Bless Carl Wilson
I saw this when it came out, and was just in awe; they were a great duo, complimenting each other wonderfully. Carl, you are so greatly missed. Wolfsky9
I am so glad this video was put back. I love how it ends. Carl Wilson is one of my favorite singers. He was a beautiful man with his angelic voice. I wish I could still go and see him in person.
Wow Marilyn Wilson still looks great. sorry about the joke, but really look a t a picture of both Marilyn Wilson and Marilyn McCoo they look like twins.
It's funny how Carl's voice is SWEETER than Marilyn's. Such a talent. Now he's entertaining the Angels in Heaven. I wish we had better sound quality on this video. You can hear it's a bit warbled. Still, I absolutely love Carl's change on the end of the song with the long .."God only knows......" Wow, gives me goosebumps! Thanks for posting!!
I really wish Marilyn had the power to put all of these wonderful duets and solo songs she sang on Solid Gold on a CD. I would purchase it in a heartbeat.
Beautiful

Carl had said that he thought at was one of the most beautiful songs he had ever heard and was glad that he got to sing it.
Paul McCartney has said the same on this song's beauty.
