I haven't played aoe 1 and 2 but i played AOE 3 AND I LOVE IT! It is my favourite strategy game of all time, and yes i even love it more then warcraft xD
@NFVGames You need to try AoE 2 then, it beats the living hell out of AoE 3, and I say that as a pretty experience AoE-fan :p AoE 2 wins by far, despite lesser graphics, which doesn't really matter for these games at all.

@GrrrIamMad well i have to agree with you but the only difference between aoe I II with III is that the ages change if you try listening the aoe I and aoe II themes you will see that they match with their ages and then III matches too so dont tell that Aoe III sucks for the theme . well about the game yes it changed a lot i find it confusing... @Trinitrotoluo The color might be from the game not being compatible with your current operating system. I'm on Vista and I tried playing AoE 2 a while back and the color was all screwed up on mine too, but the CD is in good condition.

If you played AoE2 you would realise that the distance between players cities could be bigger than the distance of an entire map of AoE3.
AoE2 also forced you to worry about building your Empire. AoE3 you just task all of your villagers to buildings that supply infinite resources and spam units.

AoE3 doesn't have any feeling of realism. I mean, when ships turn around in AoE3 it looks worse than anything I have ever seen.
