I think the money to support these kids should come straight from those unfertile rich ones. With 14 kids, how can she get a job? It's clear that she has one already.
A child is seen these days as some kind of a luxury item which only those deserve to have who own a car, a villa and a million on a bank account. The paradox is that those who have all that, prefer to be parents to some animal than to a human baby. Also, why is it accepted by society to choose career over motherhood but not vice versa? There aren't that many big families these days, how can it not be arranged that those who don't have any children help those who have many?
well, do feel that she was irresponsible by having so many children without means to provide for them, but she (and her children!) don't deserve the trauma of being harassed photographers. i agree that the rich can do more to help out big families, but they shouldn't be held responsible for her irresponsibility. when arrangements are made for aid, they shold be made prior to the birth of the babies. she didn't want to destroy the eggs, but se should've waited til she was more prepared 4 them.
Because when you have children, they're YOUR responsibility. Why should other people have to pay for a child that didn't even come from their reproductive organs (I'm not talking about adoption, that's up to other people). And motherhood is not cut out for everyone, which is why some people chose a career over that. And being a parent to an animal is much easier than a human baby, because at least an animal is grateful that you care for it.
Society itself has allowed all of this to occur. If it weren't for those who were unable to accept that they couldn't have their own children without in-vitro, telling one doctor/pharmacist/other medical staff, then the opportunity for an idea to spark to now make it an everyday occurence would never have happened. The funding came from government and private donors that would benefit from this in-vitro service and take advantage of the vulnerablity of individuals/couples who are sterile.
i agree with some of you saying that she should get help with day care, and go out and get a job, or go to school or something. its not fair to those families who have lots of kids, to work their asses off...and get no kind of aknowledgement. when this woman, has 14 kids..and just depends on fame and pity to get her and her kids by. She's not huge news because she can take good care of her kids on her own.

A child is seen these days as some kind of a luxury item which only those deserve to have who own a car, a villa and a million on a bank account. The paradox is that those who have all that, prefer to be parents to some animal than to a human baby. Also, why is it accepted by society to choose career over motherhood but not vice versa? There aren't that many big families these days, how can it not be arranged that those who don't have any children help those who have many?

well, do feel that she was irresponsible by having so many children without means to provide for them, but she (and her children!) don't deserve the trauma of being harassed photographers. i agree that the rich can do more to help out big families, but they shouldn't be held responsible for her irresponsibility. when arrangements are made for aid, they shold be made prior to the birth of the babies. she didn't want to destroy the eggs, but se should've waited til she was more prepared 4 them.

Because when you have children, they're YOUR responsibility. Why should other people have to pay for a child that didn't even come from their reproductive organs (I'm not talking about adoption, that's up to other people). And motherhood is not cut out for everyone, which is why some people chose a career over that. And being a parent to an animal is much easier than a human baby, because at least an animal is grateful that you care for it.

Society itself has allowed all of this to occur. If it weren't for those who were unable to accept that they couldn't have their own children without in-vitro, telling one doctor/pharmacist/other medical staff, then the opportunity for an idea to spark to now make it an everyday occurence would never have happened. The funding came from government and private donors that would benefit from this in-vitro service and take advantage of the vulnerablity of individuals/couples who are sterile.

Perhaps it was honestly to assist a couple/individual who wanted their own biological child, but me thinks whomever started this ball rolling, saw megadollars in their eyes - she took advantage of something that was available. 1989kdc, It's not that she had octuplets that makes her famous. it's the fact that she already had six (so she's now got 14) AND that she could barely take care of her first six so everyone was saying she was crazy for having eight more. There's some show on TLC where a family has 18 or 19 kids but the mother there has a husband and her kids and husband have jobs and they survive well. She's not huge news because she can take good care of her kids on her own.
