Never knew anybody loud enough to yell cease fire over a 25-35yd firing line once and be obeyed. Every FM I've read repeatedly states that once the shooting starts, commanders will likely have to use a combination of vocal and hand commands to pass a order, such as cease fire, effectively.
In summary, I disagree. On a personal note, the bass voice many instructors and officers encourage as a "command" voice is exactly the tone range hardest for me to hear over gun fire.
