@fearedse Hey... serious tone question. I'm dying to get the tone from Carcass' Heartwork album ... the fucking crazy mid-low break-up that happens after about .4 seconds of sustain. The mid-low-high ratio of the sound quality is second to known IMO and I hear alot of it in the tone you create. Do you feel you achieve this by the mic placement, the dropping of some parameters in the eq in the pre-mix, or just pushing the tubes to fucking Caveman Anger volume?

so does a preamp replace the amp as a whole? (or simply speaking, can you replace the amp head with a preamp and just work your way there?)

@tnekf94 there are two main sections of an amplifier, the preamp section and the power amp section, the preamp section is where your tone comes from (mostly), the power amp section simply amplifys the signal. you could use a preamp straight into a recording medium, but if you wanted it to run through a guitar cabinet you would need a power amp as well.

@MetalFee666 You must use a poweramp to plug into the preamp Then you are able to utilize a cabinet of any kind thru that power amp/pre amp combination. Some pre amps (or most) enable you to use the pre amp by itself ONLY if you're using headphones straight into the pre amp itself (of course along with your instrument). You can also change the tubes in any tube pre amp if you don't really agree with some of the preamp's characteristics right out of the box.

I'm on a high school budget (no budget), and we're recording the demo, but we can only get digital tones (we have the gnx4 and a solid state peavy amp) I'm thinking of the Laney GH100L (though a bit too pricey) or the valveking (much better price). oh and i'm not a high school "core" fag either.

the e530 has a 1 watt power amp so it's okay for practice and stuff you'd need to get a power amp like a carvin ts100 which is $500

I'm really liking the looks of the guitar. Black with white binding and the opposite(White with Black binding) always catch my eye. I really like the simplicity. One volume pot. One humbucker.
