However, in the end, even though I was following all of your instructions to the letter, I would up having to use the moveobjects on cheat to place the garage door. How do you put foundation on the tops a second story instead of ground level ... to give a modern look ... don't say it can't be done because i've seen a house in the sims 3 with it i even downloaded it to my game ... I think it requires a cheat though ... hope someone can help

yah it is possible, just use the constrainfloorelevation false and make it smaller. there should be some tutorials on youtube. How to make a foundation on the roof - Sims3 by danieeel31 is a good source. hope this helps! :D

yeah i figured it out finally it just takes a really long time to do it above just the first or second story. But i actually did it on technically the 5th story even though the house is only 2 stories plus foundation. And yes that was the tutorial i used thx.

No....weren't you watching? You can just put a door it'll leave to no where unless the wall the door is on is the garage wall and also a wall on the house.

The whole point is that you CAN NOT lay a foundation next to a wall.

This cheat is even better because it leaves the extra bit of wall on top.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Sims 2 garage way doors? I think those were a little bit longer (5 squares).

For those of you having problems with the wall covering half your garage door:

When you go to level terrain again, after rebuilding the four walls you deleted in the foundation for your door, make sure you are selecting a floor tile from the 2nd story of your house and using this as your starting point, NOT a floor tile on your 1st floor. If you don't have a 2nd floor, place a tile on that floor and use that as your "level terrain" starting point.

Did you make sure to delete four of the half walls where the garage door would be placed, followed by rebuilding full size walls in their place?

Retry and follow the directions carefully. A lot of things can go wrong if one step is treated the wrong way. I'm not exactly sure what caused your issue, though. :/
