Great movie! I had to watch it for a linguistics class, but I'm glad I did. It was pretty interesting. The ending confused me though. Random stabbing? Then ending with an autopsy? And the men weren't wearing gloves when they handled the "raw" brain! I was disappointed with how the movie was concluded, but other than that this was great.
One of the saddest endings in all of Cinema but also one of the most magical. It's an amazing film, impossible to fully come to terms with, like all of Herzog's films.
fuckin oath, one minute I'm watching Bruno S playing like 5 months ago which is just outstanding, then out of no where I see one hour, 40 something, is that ALL of Kaspar Hauser? Right there, in related videos, for the entire world to appreciate? FUCK YES, the internet is indispensible, I'm near tears here
One of Herzog's most accessible and timeless films. Great to see it here. It is interesting to note all of the "types" portrayed: Kaspar, yes, but also the gawkers, and the opportunists, the parasitic churchmen, the superior society folks, the efficient report writers, the preditors. Not only do we all have some of Kaspar in us, we all have some of the others in us, as well. Herzog is such a master at analyzing the human psyche. Besides all that, the photography in this was wonderful too.
I feel like a jackass for feeling guilty and releasing that young boy. I should have kept him for a few more years. I miss my gimp. My young son is not as willing.
Such a sensitive film .. Bruno S. is amazing in the vulnerability and childlike wonder he brings to this portrayal. A fascinating consideration of the nature of perception and resilience of the spirit.
I watched this movie twice in one night, was moved to tears both times.
"Sure, centuries from now our great-great-great-grandchildren will look back at us with amazement at how we could allow such a precious achievement of human culture as the telling of a story to be shattered into smithereens by commercials, the same amazement we feel today when we look at our ancestors for whom slavery, capital punishment, burning of witches, and the inquisition were acceptable everyday events." -Werner Herzog

why is Kasper Hauser so old in this movie?
dookerbaby 2 years ago
same reason hamlet has been performed by women.
a better question would be. why are you so arrogent to think it matters?
MidnightRayn 2 years ago
and that reason... happens to be?...

because context supersedes the boundaries of a single feeble mind.
also because it's fun to watch you squirm.
