how did you train your cat to go on a leash? Didn't he freak out and go thru a choking episode like dogs do?? Been wanting to do that with my Manx. Your Cat walks funny because manx rear legs are longer then other cats. They are bread for Speed.
i'm jealous -__- i have a black bombay and a siamese both under a year old and i wish i could put them on a leash and go for walks or atleast go "explore" outside! i put a halter on my bombay and she just lays there haha your cat is adorable he looks soo cuddley haha :')
@Kurasutaru : Well that's actually why I am walking him 3 times a day. My next door neighbors give him treats and I've have reduced his morning and evening feedings. NO he will not put up with just 1 meal a day; we would not be able to sleep at night until we did so. We are working hard on his weight; he just has a very, very strong personality. He can hear his neighbors in the backyard and is extremely aggressive at letting them know he is starving to death. Have even talked to neighbors.
@Kurasutaru - mine is pretty solid; just like a bulldog only we call him the bullcat. A huge cuddle monster he is! Check out those huge paws! He pulls just like a lab when out walking; I don't take him on walks; he takes me! I know Caeser Milan hates when owners do that, but he's a cat at heart.
Cute cat....... jaja the name Tonto means dumb in spanish, but he is pretty smart to allow himself to be leashed. Tried to leash my cat once and he took off his collar in less than 5 mins. btw my cat is a scottish fold. ^.^
@hellparry : why do most Spanish Dictionaries say that Tonto means Silly? He is the silliest cat ever! We actually named him after "the Lone Ranger and Tonto" and of course my husband and I watched this old movie (1974) with Art Carney "Harry and Tonto" about this old man that travels the country with his leashed kitty Tonto. They are both the same color too only my Tonto is a Rumpy (no tail) manx.
As for how I got Tonto to walk on a leash; I basically got a light weight leash and hooked it to his collar. He walked around the house and just got to used to it. Then I would hold onto the end of the leash and of course snacks were involved; he got to following me and then outside we went. Never pull a cat forward, it has to be a gentle tug to the side. Notice in the video when he stops; I tug gently and he continues. Hope this helps you all to teach your cat to walk on a leash!)
Tonto's a pretty smart cat. I've tried this with my Manx, Bob, but he gets too spooked by everything going on outside. He'll either try to hide under something or just lie down.
SO cute, but I think a harness will be better for him

They're cats, not dogs. Leash is fine, but you pretty much can't train a cat to follow vocal commands.

Manx are known to behave like dogs, and can learn vocal commands better than other cat breeds.

@suiteangel45 not all manx cats are fat... and its not that thier fat thier built big or small. trust m when they get fat you cant hold them anymore

Only a manx can walk on a leash. I had one and could take him for walks- it was awesome!

If you're a dog person and you have to get a cat, the manx is a great compromise.

I've never seen a cat walking with just a collar. Usually they walk with harnesses.
