@blader6226 This is after the end when they find the Apple of Eden, Desmund stabs Lucy and is taken to William's hideout (another connected group of Assassins), they place him in the Animus and watch as he relives this memory so they can discover the coordinates of their next target.

The next target is likely a temple housing either another Apple of Eden (it's just technology, why make only one of them?) or another artifact capable of preventing catastrophe in December 2012.

I think Desmund (who you may be playing as through his son, by the way) and the other Assassins will do exactly as the "Before People" want, but I don't believe those people are trustworthy. Keep in mind that they created a human mind-control device and became worshiped as Gods.

Additionally, Adam and Eve (or the snake) were the first human(s) to become resistant to its power, as were their descendents, and so they stole it and began the war against those enslaving humanity.
