@bachaka61 Heartless, yes; If you think that invading Kuwait and defying UN countless mandates for his forces to leave or face a powerful military coalition was "rational", I don't know...
As for pissing off the West and their allies, they sure gave him plenty of opportunities to end his little tamtrums and 2003 was the last straw.
Saddam and the Ba'ath Party claimed that Kuwait was stealing oil by "slant-drilling", but from a military perspective it was a poor choice to commence an invasion.
The majority of the stock footage of the parades were mostly taken in the late 1980s after the war with Iran, pre-Gulf War to be exact.
The footage with the fella in gray singing shows what 20 years of UN no-fly zones, embargoes and sanctions can do to cripple a huge fighting force like Iraq's.
The Iraqi military was a formidable force, unfortunately Saddumb's decision to invade Kuwait made it a shadow of it's former self after they made war with half the world.
@Strategichan425 Haha Saddam wasn't dumb. he was really rational and heartless, which allowed him to stay in power for 20 years while pissing off the USA, Israel, Iran & Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc.
But you do know that Kuwait was stealing oil from Iraq, do you?
Their military fatigues are such shit, look like a bunch of lemmings.
The special forces look pretty cool tho, and in the area's of deployment no doubt that gear would work really nice. The light clothing to keep you cool/quiet, and the face mask to help keep the wind/sand out. To bad this military never got to fight the U.S. on fair terms, if the fighting would have stayed on the ground infantry vs infantry it might have been a real war, not a bombardment from 100k+ out, then cleanup.
@NeutralExistence It was only a matter of time before Iraq would be invaded anyway. The U.S. does not like strong nations, especially nations with resources. I will also add that 20 years of U.N. sanctions stopped Iraq from upgrading their military to a stronger fighting force.
Fight that traitor don't give any chance to that traitor!!!.. Especially who betrayed you country.... show pride of Arab!! show no mercy to invader and that traitor!!
Please dont comment here in other languages than english. I just deleted something arabic. Sorry for that. But I need to know what people say in their postings here.
