He uses tissue because all gromets dont fit some needle loops or abar nipples , the paper towel can get a tight fit for any, and it can be tight so there is no play in it, allot of artists do this, most do this so you need to learn instead of trolling to nit pic shit people do , shows immaturity and lack of knowledge/skill

you mean the rubber bands? most artists will change their bands depending on how often the machine is used, bands can become weak and can run the possibility of producing lower quality work.

i learned tattooing in prison no skool no apprendence crap and it doesnt take years as long as u have a steady hand and u have to able to draw its very easy

I'll tell ya how your so wrong. Everything is different between lining and shading and color machines. Different: coils,spring gagues,spring tension,capacitors,throw length. Not just speed buddy.

Sorry,wrong again. Coils,capacitors and spring tension do a lot more than control the speed. For the most part,gap controls the "speed" of the machine.Take a color machine and set the gap to that of a liner and set it to liner "speed" and you'll get a shit line because its the wrong parts on the machine to do the job. And sorry actually knowing the parts of the machine confuses you.

Being a good paper and canvas artist doesn't mean you'll be a good tattoo artist and if you don't know how to make a machine run well by actually knowing the technical aspects of tattooing then anything you do will look like total shit,especially if something goes wrong and you don't know what the hell the problem is because you though google was just as good as actually knowing something. Kids at home watching this, your tattooist should change their gloves often and never touch one person then another with the same pair. I've had an apprenticeship, the great thing about it is you learn alot!. Now as far as tattooing goes whether you've had an apprenticeship or not you will butcher alot of skin before you get good. Choose your own path, but when you have someone by yourside to ask questions it is a hell of alot easier
i baught a tattoo machine off ebay...its cool i gave myself a tattoo and it looks great, thanks to all these videos on yourtube... i agree about the apprentice thing, your not going to learn to tattoo by cleaning toilets...i learned to ride a bike by doing it...i fell at first but i got it...tattoo yourself, if they look like shit wait 40 years and your face will match...
it isnt about learning to clean a toilet. it's about learning the proper way to tattoo in SAFE and STERILE environment. In regards to apprenticing teaching you how to tattoo, you are right. only trying it, and practice will get you anywhere. apprenticing is for people that want to learn how to WORK in tattoo shop as a professional. apprenticing teaches you how to behave as well. seriously i learned a shit load of shop etiquette apprenticing. i would say the tattooing was 70% trial and error.
i have a tattoo of roses around my belly buton. i got it when i was 16. the gun doesnt hurt but the thought of it feeling like a sharp knife cutting back and forth on your skin was more scary for me. its the only tatto i will ever get . too many tattoos is too much.
how does turning up or down the speed on the power suply/machine affect the work? is slow best for lining or shading or is a faster moving needle better for just moving faster?

I guess, I know at least 3 artists in my city that are top ranked in the state who learned simply by teaching themselves, tattooing freinds and family for no cost to learn, ect...... The problem with being an apprentice aka "shop bitch" is that you often get raped by someone who simply wnats a janitor. Another thing is that the color isnt getting inside the skin. Sometimes i have to tattoo the same thing 5-6 times before the color actually gets inside the skin. For example, i made a little tatt of the letter M on a friend, and it took me like an hour because of the color, it just woldnt get in under the skin. It was like i was tattoing except nothing is happening except me "tearing" his skin.
i have a problem. Every time i dip in the color and place the needle on the skin a lot of color is being unleashed from the machine. Like its spilling. And even if i ignore it and just do the tattoo, i cant see that much cause it just makes this stain of color.
jazzie prod, if its spitting everywhere then you might be using the wrong needle with the wrong tip or - your placing the sides or too much of ur needle into your ink cap
Hey Trissabelle... There was a time when there were no grommets. You used a small wad of tape to keep the needle solid to the arm bar. There is nothing wrong with this method, except that you may not be familiar with it. Grommets only showed up on the scene around ten years ago. Before that, it was tape or whatever does the job. The tape is a hallmark of a tattooist that has been around for quite a while. Shotsie has been around for a long time, and knows what he is doing.
tweeking=tuning. this is not good info because it will make beginners think they can do it right away before learning about cross contaminating,machine mechanics and other factors that one must know.
Dude isnt right if he uses unsterile wrap to bandage a tattoo.. that shit sits in the back of a truck in a box that isnt airtight.. collecting who knows what... to then be placed against a moist and warm surface with an open wound.. thanks to Mrs. Angel and the APP and APT for having the foresight to educate artists on new standards and procedures... they also used to think you had to slap a tattoo to "set the ink".. dont hate on new developments.. embrace them and constantly become better!!
I know that I do know alot and that this info should not be given to just anyone. It just makes everybody think they can jump right into tattooing. There is alot more to it than that and alot of precautions one must take and for the record tweeking=tuning
in some ways your right but in most your being a twat, if someone wants to pursue tattooing and they cant afford £3000 2 week corses (PTA england prices) or cant find an apprenticeship then these tips arent hurting, id rather a shit tattooist have this information and go tattooing people than not.

Sorry,wrong again. Coils,capacitors and spring tension do a lot more than control the speed. For the most part,gap controls the "speed" of the machine.Take a color machine and set the gap to that of a liner and set it to liner "speed" and you'll get a shit line because its the wrong parts on the machine to do the job. And sorry actually knowing the parts of the machine confuses you.

Being a good paper and canvas artist doesn't mean you'll be a good tattoo artist and if you don't know how to make a machine run well by actually knowing the technical aspects of tattooing then anything you do will look like total shit,especially if something goes wrong and you don't know what the hell the problem is because you though google was just as good as actually knowing something. I've had an apprenticeship, the great thing about it is you learn alot!. Now as far as tattooing goes whether you've had an apprenticeship or not you will butcher alot of skin before you get good. Choose your own path, but when you have someone by yourside to ask questions it is a hell of alot easier

it isnt about learning to clean a toilet. it's about learning the proper way to tattoo in SAFE and STERILE environment. In regards to apprenticing teaching you how to tattoo, you are right. only trying it, and practice will get you anywhere. apprenticing is for people that want to learn how to WORK in tattoo shop as a professional. apprenticing teaches you how to behave as well. seriously i learned a shit load of shop etiquette apprenticing. i would say the tattooing was 70% trial and error.

I can't believe, of ALL people, Shotsie Gorman has lowered himself to doing this! He's one of the best in the industry and I'm just floored to see this coming from him. He said at the end of the vid that he's used up to 50 needles in a cluster and that's a true fact. Anyone who's seen the tattoo of the WWI flying ace on the guy's back that he did, the huge solid black area was filled in with a 52 round and he made the tube himself. The problem with being an apprentice aka "shop bitch" is that you often get raped by someone who simply wnats a janitor. Another thing is that the color isnt getting inside the skin. Sometimes i have to tattoo the same thing 5-6 times before the color actually gets inside the skin. For example, i made a little tatt of the letter M on a friend, and it took me like an hour because of the color, it just woldnt get in under the skin. It was like i was tattoing except nothing is happening except me "tearing" his skin.

i have a problem. Every time i dip in the color and place the needle on the skin a lot of color is being unleashed from the machine. Like its spilling. And even if i ignore it and just do the tattoo, i cant see that much cause it just makes this stain of color.

Hey Trissabelle... There was a time when there were no grommets. You used a small wad of tape to keep the needle solid to the arm bar. There is nothing wrong with this method, except that you may not be familiar with it. Grommets only showed up on the scene around ten years ago. Before that, it was tape or whatever does the job. The tape is a hallmark of a tattooist that has been around for quite a while. Shotsie has been around for a long time, and knows what he is doing.

in some ways your right but in most your being a twat, if someone wants to pursue tattooing and they cant afford £3000 2 week corses (PTA england prices) or cant find an apprenticeship then these tips arent hurting, id rather a shit tattooist have this information and go tattooing people than not.
