I meant to say that I'm sure that in the Southern Hemisphere where right now it's mid-winter there must be plenty of places where the weather is better today than it is here in Ireland where it has been bucketing all day but where it is supposedly "mid-summer's day". Grrrrr.

not like winter's north hemisphere but yes, very cold. Fortunately I live at north of Chile, near to the most dry desert of the world, where winter is much more tolerable than at the south of Chile.

Happy Summer Solstice from Hawaii - it is raining here all year round and the temperature doesn't fluctuate much but it is heating up and soon will be averaging 85 degrees rather than the winter/spring between 70-80.
