  • thank you for this video...is very useful...

  • @CalugarulTibetan you are welcome

  • Do you know how much yarn you used?

  • @spotnoelle Around 400 meters

  • I'm using smaller yarn and a needle. Just finished row 4 and it's looks awful small. Should I try another increase round and then begin with the 1 puff stitch in each gap?

  • @HorsieGirlie101 You may need to work at least one, may two more increase round. You will need to work two puff stitch in some of the spaces evenly around.

  • @tjw1963 Thank you!

  • Is this pattern for an adult?

  • @hernandezf03 It is an adult size

  • would the puff stitch make a good baby afghan?

  • @ducttapelover4998 yes it would make a great baby afghan

  • Do you know why my hat stay flat ? it does not curve to the inside ..I hope you understand , I speak french .. but your video is very easy to understand .. it's just because I finished the round 3 and my hat don't look like it supposed to be.. :(

  • hi Theresa! where do you buy the crochet rubber? i am looking and dont find it anywhere :(

    tks

    flor

  • @florm70 to me it looks like a simple pencil grip. I would look at an office supply store like office depot in the pencil aisle. That's most likely where you'll find them.

  • @florm70 They are pencil grips.. I purchase mine from walmart. I have also seen them at Office Depot

  • I'm VERY new to crocheting (like I've never done it before but I've made a couple things with a knitting loom) so I was wondering if I could do this with a J-hook? (I noticed you have an I-hook and I'm not sure if it makes a difference) Thanks!

  • @YoMaMe84 Yes, you can work it with the size J hook. The cap will turn out larger so you may need to adjust for the larger hook. This may be working less increase stitches and rounds. You may find that the size J is making the right size for you. As you progress with the cap and it expands in size, you will have a better idea about the size.

  • I just finished making my puff stitch hat and I got to say thank u so much!!! It was very simple to do and I really appreciate u for making this video!!! My hat is in rainbow colors!!! :) it rocks!!!

  • @dezzy8888 It sound really pretty! Please share a picture or video response.

  • Thank you so much. I just finished it today and love it!!! Now my sister wants one so I will have to get on my computer again and follow directions. It is so cute!!!

  • @christie5577 You are welcome. Great to hear your cap turned out so well. I would love to see a picture or video response.

  • @clausi71ify Me alegro que te guste. Usted es bienvenido!

  • Hello Teresa! Ur vids are really awesome n I'm so inspired, I'm gonna start trying to crochet again, like this Wed! :) Am thinking of trying this out... Can this hat be like a beret/Kingston type? How many stitches would you suggest increasing and at which rows? Sorry, I don't dare estimate on my own... :P

  • I made this beanie yesterday and it turned out PERFECTLY. Wore it to a party last night. Thanks so much!

  • @Penultimate You are welcome.

  • I love the directions! I just want it in a smaller size! This hat is adorable!

  • I want to make this for a newborn baby; is there a similar video with instructions for that?

  • this may sound silly but after your first puff stitch... the video skips on to the next puff stitch but it looks like you have a few chains on before that? How many chains do i do inbetween each puff stitch? thank you! I love all your videos and projects! Easy to learn videos, and i recommend them to everyone i know! thank you!!!

  • @cncjpeters Open the video description and you will find a link to the written instructions. You can always compare the video to the written instructions.

  • @cncjpeters glad I looked at your question because I was getting ready to ask the same question.

  • i made this! this was my first crochet piece and it turned out awesome! thanks for the awesome vid! :)

  • @mychemgirlfan You are welcome.

  • Thanks for posting this video! This was my first real crochet project and this made it really easy! Here is a link to my finished project: ohsonifty.blogspot.com/2012/01/yeah-i-made-that-nbd.html I linked up to your video.

    Thanks again!

  • Hi! I would like a suggestion from you. I have 2 skeins of 50 grams, the length of wire for each thread is 75 meters. I can male this hat? I do not have the opportunity ti buy another skein of same yarm... is a problem... could you advise me which hat I can do with these numbers? or you could suggest to me the realization of a sharf? (which one?) anche what style and point? I am at the first experiences with crochet hook, I'm not an expert. Ciao! :))

  • this hat is for adult or child (the sizes)???

  • @13141508si This is an adult size cap. Keep in mind that there are a range of smaller size caps in the large cap.

  • In the round 5 to 10 how many stich puffs I have in every round, 5?, 6? 7? .... in each round, and each puff the few chains separated from one another stich puff?

  • Hey do you knit?

  • About how many yards does this take??

  • @sydchris517 I went to her comments and saw 300-400 yards would be enough.

  • About how many yards does this hat take??

  • yayyy i finished my first hat ^__^

Can you please make a tutorial on how to make a crocodile stitch hat? pleaaaseee thank you!!!

  • I love it... It's so easy I did it within 1 hr and a half

  • what is the finished size?

  • @crystalterry83 22-25 inches.

  • This is the fastest video of yours to get to so, yeah... Well I just wanted to say you inspired me and just a couple minutes ago I crocheted a wallet. I put a little s on it with a different colored yarn ^^ Thank you for inspiring to do my best, I was about to give up on crocheting until I watched your videos. Your super cool! ☺

  • @tjw1963 do you have to put the band?

  • @Lokilani38 You do not have to make a band.

  • @tjw1963 if you do do the band, can you make it a different color

  • could you do a puff stitch blanket??? Thumbs up so she can see

  • @Lokilani38 I can make a small swatch to show how a puff stitch blanket would be made. The reason for a small swatch is because it is all repetitive. The starting width for any row type project can always be made wider.

  • @tjw1963 thank you

  • Thank you so much. I've been searching for days for a simple pattern like this.

  • @GeminiNamedBatteh You are welcome. This is an easy stitch once you get the hang of it.

  • @Obsessedwithnailart 'SP' means Space, as in CH (chain) SP (space) :)

  • @RogueEloquence thank you!!!

  • ลายสวยมากค่ะ..จะลองทำดูนะค่ะ

  • thanks for showing us how to do this!

  • this seems to look easier than the other hats i been seeing. this will be my first project

  • How could you make this for a toddler and infant?

  • @sabrinakenny You will stop at one of the earlier rounds, working less increase stitches and round to make the smaller cap.

  • what does SP mean in handwritten instructions?

  • @ObsessedWithNailArt SP means space. Space is a generic term that may have a lot of different meanings.

  • this video is so cool

  • This is so pretty, thanks for the awesome detailed toutorial!

  • Thank you so much for a great tutorial! But is my hat supposed to start curling in around rows 6/7?

  • @xxGRRxx92 That sounds about right. Round 4 is the last increase round so it should start curling with side forming in the next couple rounds.

  • so this is an adult size hat? I just wanna make sure it's adult size before I start.

  • i love love love this tutorial, so easy to follow and the outcome is beautiful! im definitely subscribing, keep up the great work! :)

  • how can you change the color and then go back to the previous color we were using??

  • I made this hat. It is lovely, your videos are easy to follow and its even helping allow me to better understand book instructions. The hat looks a little big, but it fit, could i take out the last increase round to make it a bit smaller.

  • I was planning to make this hat for my friend for her birthday, but it ended up to be SO SMALL which makes it fit only for a baby!! I was so disappointed, yet so happy because it came up sooooo cuuutttteee!!

  • This makes a very nice hat! It's quick and easy, and I will be able to have several of these completed in time for the holidays! Great pattern and video. Thanks!

  • Teresa! I love this, but how can you change colors?? :/ just at the bottom, before the band of the hat..?

  • I DID IT :D

I did it I did it yayyy, I made this hat it's so beautiful I'm so happy :D

I have to tell you this is my first crochet hat ever, I used 5mm crochet hook & it worked just fine! :)

Thanks a million Teresa mowah :D

  • Teresa, if I am making an adult cap all I have to do is use a larger hook??

and vice versa for a baby cap??

  • You're awesome! I love your works, your tutorials are really good and easy to follow :) I was wondering if you could help me do a sweater for my dog, maybe? I've seen several on the net and they look so cute! But I don't really know how to do them, so I thought of making this suggestion. :D

  • Love your tutorials! I have made several of your flowers and will be making this hat next. Super cute!!

  • I am wanting to make a "slouchy" hat like the Kingston cap using this stitch. What do I alter? Thank you!

  • I love your tutorials. I've made three hats and 2 scarves so far using the shell stitch tutorials, I can't wait to try this puff stitch! Thank you for your great work :)

  • I just made this hat! I'm the only one out of my friends who crochets and for the ones who want to make something. I find that this hat is pretty simple, but still super cute! Thank you!

  • @icingfairy1 You are welcome. :)

  • @tjw1963 is this a good hat for a boy???

  • Thank you so much for this clear, easy to follow tutorial! I'm looking forward to learning many new stitches with your help in the future. But...I was wondering...Is this hat SUPPOSED to be an infant sized hat? Or am I doing it wrong? Please let me know, I'd appreciate it :)

  • @lilmisspinkpankpunk I made it as an adult size cap. If you use smaller yarn and a smaller hook, the cap will turn out much smaller.

  • @lilmisspinkpankpunk hey there!it's a great hat but i have the same problem as well.i'll try to increase today and let you know how it goes. after R4(24 puff stiches) i will increase to end up with 30 PS in R5 and then go on as usuall.

  • Thank you so much! This Christmas all my gifts are going to be all the projects I've completed by following your videos!!!

  • I modified this a little...worked all the increase rows and row 5 with the 7 loop puff (since I wasn't completely comfortable with the 9 loop), and then rows 6-10 with the 9 loop. Turning out great!

  • How would I make this for a child around 12 years old? Would I change increase amount? Please help! I have already made this one for myself and love it!

  • about my last comment, i got it, i was doing bad the rounds, i had to undo everything and start all over again :P btw i love your work, i learned a lot of things i didn't know about art of crochet :)

  • I'm trying, I am already on round five and not taking the form of hat, is normal or i'm not doing something right? PLEASE HELP ME!! i really wanna do this hat.

  • @Pat24001 Round 5 is right after the increase round. It may lay flat for anther round or two and then it should start to form sides.

  • Wow very easy!! I have been lookn for this for over an hr nd finally found it!!! I will do it tomorrow because its now 2:30 am >.<

  • HI I LOVE THE HAT I AM TRYING IT WITH PINK YARNTHANKS FOR TEACHING ME

  • hi! i want to ask you if is possible to make a scarf using puff stitch. can you give me the scheme? thank's. excuse my english

  • teresa! your the best! you know everything.. now i started this hat but i have a smaller hook size G.. i completed the first five rows exactly how you showed here but mines is not as wide as yours, could i do more increases on my own? i think i might have to. i am making it for a friend for her birthday, this friday 11/25/2011.. if you could get back to me beforehand that would be great! thank you!!

  • @proud2bwifed You can work more increase stitches to make the cap larger. That will be working two puff stitches in the same stitch. The crown will expand before the sides form.

  • Teresa, I've been trying to find your pattern/instruction for a puff stitch flower... Did I just imagine that you have one, or have I overlooked it? Thank you so much!

  • I love your work tank you for sharing.

  • i messed up and didn't realize it until i was on my second round! i only did 5 puff stitches on the first round. is there any way to fix it without having to undo it?

  • I LOVE YOUR WORK! And you are such a great teacher :) Thanks a bunch!

  • I'm going to try this ASAP I always wanted to know how this kind of hat was made

  • How big does this hat end up being?

  • Could you give me any pointers with the puff stich? The spaces in-between my puff stiches are looser than those in your video, almost like I am stretching them out while working the puff in the circle. Thank you for your videos! You are very gifted!! :)

  • thats too much.. lol

  • hi Teresa, Great hat with your great and easy instructions as always. Thank you!!!!

  • i made myself a puff stitch hat and i wanted to make one for my little sister. she is 3 years old, but im not sure where and how many increases i should have. if you could help that would be great!

  • I LOVE this hat, I started stitching it, but around the 6th row, I realized that it is too big and looks more like a circle, HELP please.

    -Whitney

  • @Glassblower718 Thank you.

  • @waxprincess I sent you two videos that I hope will help

  • i made it without chain one to make thicker and i love it!

  • I just learned make hats well beanie I wait try this. After 7 hats in a row with sc, hdc and dc im ready for a change. This looks like fun thanks for posting another awesome tutorial

  • @Crystal4454 You are welcome. I am glad you like it.

I'm hooked! :) I'm looking forward to making some of your patterns to give as gifts for the upcoming holiday season:)...again, I'm so happy to have found you! Thanks and God Bless you:)

  • @ibejoanin I appreciate your kind words, thank you. :)

  • stunning I am so grateful for all these tutorials, they are really invaluable to me. thank you

  • @davinderk1 You are welcome. I appreciate the comment.

  • I just have to say that I love your videos! I've been crocheting for 17 of my 27 years and find new inspiration by your videos and patterns. Thank you for your work!

  • I love this! I'm going to practice it... :)

  • Oie xq a mi m queda como carpeta... no bajas se va redondo........

  • can ANYONE help me with this: When you do the band, it comes out too tight for my head? 9i dont think my head is that big haha) so i did the stitches really loose, anyone else do the same or have a different pattern? thx ;)

  • @soarfree402 If the band is working up to tight, work additional single crochet stitches so it is not to tight.

  • @soarfree402 mira si tienes la cabeza mas grande lo que tienes que hacer es aumentarle.. ya que no puedes reducir la cabeza pues auméntale al gorrito para que te quede muy bien.. saludossssss..:)

  • could you use this same pattern for a slouchy beanie/hat?

  • The blog has not been working for the past few days. It could be an error on my side, but I wanted you to know.

  • i am making this hat for a child arround 6 would you recommend making it thiis way with fewer increases or use the baby pattern with more increases?

  • i want to make this for my husband? please guide me for the size..thanks in advance

  • @subhaganesh17 You can use a larger crochet hook or you can work more increase stitches and rounds.

  • Is this the same as the "Bobble" stitch? Thx ;)

  • @maltesergr8 This the puff stitch.

  • wHERE DO YOU GET THE RUBBER SLIDES/NEEDLE HOLDER?

  • @TrueZeal um they're grippers u know those things for the pencils

  • @TrueZeal They are pencil grips. I use them with flex wrap tape to keep them in place for different size crochet hooks

  • Hice este sombrero y me quedo muy bonito... asi gracias por tus videos.

I made this hat and it's very pretty... so thanks for your videos.

  • @Cliovet85 Great that it turned out! Thank you!

  • @lexinlece16 try using a bigger hook size:) hope that works

  • Ummm Do you think you could tell me how to change coulors without having to cut the yarn?

  • i have tried and tried to get those first 5 puff stitches and i count all nine on my hook and then single stitch idk it doesn't seem all that hard but when you get done yours looks all nice and neat and somehow mine ends up looking sloppy (idk how else to explain it). Is there a trick to keeping it looking neat? Hopefully that made sense.

  • @momcharisma88 There is a trick and I did a video showing the trick. I will send it to you. What you do is pull the loops up horizontal each time so you are making poofy puff stitches.

  • Firstly, i want to say thank you very much for posting these videos. I've learned how to crochet from your videos. Question, how can i make this hat bigger? when i finish it came out too small

  • Thank you, I´ve done mine it´s lovely.

  • Thank you so much Teresa :) your are a wonderful person to put all your skills on

tape and list them on YouTube. I only had basic skills of crocheting squares from

when I was young. but in 3 days I have crocheted 3 different types of YOUR beanies. ALL of them came out fantastic. Your instructions are very detailed. Thank you

    again, Bernadette

  • @b3rnadina Hi Bernadette - Thank you for your generous words! I am thrilled that you are successful with learning to crochet. Keep practicing and trying new stitches.

  • so therapeutic :L i felt i was drifting off, in a good way! very helpful! :D

  • Hi Teresa, I'm still having problems with this hat, he too begins to increase from the career that makes two doubles and 6 Total Puff Stitch do not know what I'm doing wrong, could you help me, because it starts open too, would be very grateful.
