Nice flying man.Im looking at moving to a cp heli like this and have seen 'RTF' (yeh right!) versions with dx6i tx for aound £200.Roughly how much more dyou think id need to spend to get decent servos,rx and gryos? as im assuming the stock parts that come with the cheap RTF kits will be made of chocolate!.
@chiQiboy The rx servos and gyros that come with it are very decent... very serviceable. A faster tail servo and a better gyro would lock the heading in better. But it really does very well just stock.
That was a common problem when i started Piroutte's.I think its just a natural instinct to chop the throttle a little. As you gain confidence in Piroutting the dropping of the chopper diminshes i found. We all start out at the beginning.Nice job.
I cant get mine to stay in the air for more then 2or 3 seconds. I gave up after I destroyed my 4th or 5th set of blades(on the same battery). suppose I should have learned how to fly my cx better first. :(
@joehandsome99 well I actually have a cp pro2. i wish I would've looked into other helis before I got it. I was just looking at the SR u suggested, I should of got that one. sounds like its easier to fly. I'm having a hard time trying to find a heli sim, what one do u use?
@theoriginalJASONXYZ I'm in the same boat mate. I've flown mine once and it crashed after 3 seconds. I repaired it but instead of trying again I just bit the bullet and bought the G5 simulator. I was expensive but nothing compared to what I would've have spent on repairs. The thing with the sim is you can have unlimited crashes and you can practice for as long as you want instead of 8 minutes at a time in real life with batteries and what not. It's fun to master the planes too, you might prefer.
Hey Eric...this is an old vid now but anyways i used your idea of a training ¨cross¨without balls on the end too! i also fixed the rods like 3/8 inch up the landing skid so that the cross only saved me if i really needed saving..so far so good on my 400! cool vid by the way cheers rob
@joehandsome99 Hey Eric...how are you doing? well, i took training cross off a while back and all is going really well! i also have blade sr but, i find the 400 is much easier to fly..maybe cos it is heavier and just more stable...anyway..all is cool. oh..i like your boat vids! cheers rob
Nice heli, vid and shirt. I have a Blade 400, nice heli! As of this vid, I am doing my first rolls, loops and stal turnes. :) have fun! (I will subscribe)
The bigest fear I have to get over is the crash my 400 is still in the box in good shape I built a training pole for the first flights and then used dollrods with plastic balls on the ends. The flight simulator is the way to go im going to look into geting one Thanks for your video and comments
you should piro the nose left. You won't lose headspeed and motor rpms doing so. Work on hovering 45 degrees left and right. Master that, then 90 degrees left and right. Before you know it, you'll be nose in hovering and piroettes will be a sinch no matter the speed.
not really, most will disagree, a good quality sim wil allow you to gain stick experience and allow the new pilots to get over the stick input problems that occur when the heli faces to the side or back towards the pilot,
i found the sim easyer to fly than the actual thing but it does help with the learning curves that limit new pilots,
get 2 people, one that trained on a sim and one who never flown, who you thinks gonna crash first? ild bet its not the one who flys with a sim.
@puggster you're are spot on the money there, a sim will give you the opportunity to develop the intuitive stick inputs that will save you when it all turns pear shaped. If you have to think about how to react then the crash is already history. It's true that a sim can't mirror real flight perfectly but it can enhance your progress and save you lots of rebuild downtime. Wish I had bought mine 2 helicopters ago, I'd have saved myself lots of grief.
trouble is with sims there not really acurate as the real thing but i supose its better than busting up your heli lol
what i did when i had a go on a blade 400 was to give it some throttle in sync with the tail rotor or rudder movment
the thing is with most motor driven helis is as soon as you touch some rudder movment the thing drops in rotor speed causeing it to loose altitude. if you give it some throttle at the same time as tail input it should give you a steady Pirouette
It is similar for the stick movement, but does require more skill. The coaxial blade helis do alot of the hovering work for you while the CP (collective pitch) helis need your input.
Good stuff mate keep it up. just remember when doing a right Pirouette (nose going right) you will be going against the torque so will lose hight so just give a little more pitch just as you do it and it wont sink and stay at one hight.
But when nose going left come down abit as your going with the torque so the heli will rise.
You will master it soon just keep at it mate well done
that second piroeutte was tight. nice job, do you have the real flight sim? i just ordered the g4.5....and im thinking about getting this as my second heli. what heli do you use on the sim?
awesome man, my pleasure. g4.5 gets here on the 20th!!! tower hobbies had a great sale on it, and a $50 manufacturer rebate. is the blade 400 easier to fly than the blade cp pro? thats what ive heard. i ordered the heli max axe v3, but im gonna log at least 20 hours on the sim before i even open the box.
That is an excellent idea about the flight sim. Resist the urge to fly until you can get the basics down in the flight sim or you will just be buying more parts from tower hobby right away. Thanks for watching achilles.
I would buy a tamer heli for a first one. The blade 400 is for intermediate to advanced flyers. A coaxial blade heli would be a good first choice as it will teach you the basics and then you can get better spitfiremk22.
This blade 400 really got me back into the helis again. The learning curve with it is much easier than the blade pro. I look forward to seeing 2 blade 400's in the air real soon. Thanks for the comment Dave.
Great job hovering, try to remember to pitch forward and back just a little when turning, this puts you in control, not the heli. I'm no pro though, just learning myself.
I don't care what anybody says. Just to hover an RC helicopter is quite an accomplishment. I tried Dave's Blade 400 on his training stand, and if it weren't for that stand, I'd have crashed it several times. He says he might let me try his Honeybee while you and Greg are here. I don't know though, way different than flying an airplane.
Eric thats are spins :D
greetz from germany :D
But nice flight ^^

@theoriginalJASONXYZ I use a sim to practice and that helps alot. Also the new blade SR is a better choice to step up to from a CX in my opinion.

I never used the sim. i find it a waste of time, really. flying the real thing is much more educational.
zabob276 2 years ago
A flight sim is the better way to go unless you just have lots of money to blow repairing your heli for your education.
joehandsome99 2 years ago
good point, but i don't have money for the sim :(

a sim does help ALOT but some things just are not the same on the sim...(for one ur not worried about crashing)sometimes u just need the real thing

it would be a good start
