  • OMG HE' SO GOOD AT THAT GAME. HE MUST HAVE NO LIFE.

  • Someone has a real life...

  • That guy on the poster's like DAAAAAAAAAANNNGGG!!!!!!

  • So...If America = Guitar Hero does that mean Japan = Piano Hero?

  • japanese guitar hero xD

  • Bahaha they're probably all soo good at games after doing some hard core studying they want to relax and have fun.

  • @suzyxox more like after some hardcore gaming they just want to relax and study

  • this isint that hard...

  • @MarioSegaFreak True, but it takes some getting used to! ^^

  • ya but have you ever fucked a girl?

  • Why are people so impressed by this shit?

It's like knife swallowing. Yeah, it's neat and stuff, but what the fuck does it or can it accomplish?

    Besides death.

  • Why are people impressed with music or art or film or literature?

Sometimes it's unclear whether or not anyone actually benefits from these things, but they are entertaining and it dosn't hurt to have them around.

  • You just bothered asking why art, in general, after having evolved thousands of years alongside everything else human growth and accomplishment stands for... you're asking why THAT is so impressive?

The fact alone that we've stamped our creativity on both cave walls and white canvases should answer such a silly question for you.

THESE, on the other hands, are impressive in their creation (an artform), however NOT in their usage.

Being good at games is like being good at watching DVDs.

  • You asked what video games could ACCOMPLISH. Realistically speaking, what do the arts accomplish? Nothing, really. They're just pretty to look at, sometimes they mean something intangible to us, but they don't aid us in our survival or anything. Their value is artificial.

I'm a fan of the arts and a fan of games, but it is clear to me that their worth is subjective and determined by the audience. Watching this video, it was your opinion that his skills were nothing special. So? Your opinion.

  • I didn't asked what video games could accomplish, I question what being good at them could accomplish.

I do admit there is some menial form of skill required to be this good, but everyone can be this good, given enough time spent with the stupid thing.

Art isn't like that. You could receive all of the training in the world, within an artistic vocation, and still be terrible if you lack natural talent. That's the distinction betweel "art" and this shit.

    Art takes talent, this doesn't.

  • And, with all due respect, you've kind of entered douche status by actually trying to depend this shit -- especially by trying to contest art as a rebuttal. If this is indeed my "opinion", then you've done a fine job of soiling yours by questioning art in general, rather than something more exact like expressionist painting or something. Not art in general.

Trying to compare everything "art" with obsessive gaming is like comparing martial ars to juggling.

    Don't be stupid.

  • Okay. What does being good at art (painting, writing, music and so on) accomplish?

And don't say they can make you money because, exactly like video gaming, there are many, many people practicing while only a gifted few ever do anything worth mentioning that could actually support them. In fact, many artists are virtually ignored until their deaths.

  • The mere fact that you asked such a question leads me to assume youre not an artistic person, yourself. I saw your profile, though, and noticed youre likely an enthusiastic gamers.

Looks, I love video games as much as the next person, but here youre not defending games, dude youre defending the obsession of games to the point of the video above.

Games are a great hobby, dude, thats why I play them. But they are only a hobby; a relatively simple one, at that.

  • And not to avoid your question: what does being good at art accomplish? Well, just take a look at something, anything, and you'll see what it does/has accomplished.

Every building you enter, car you drive, machine you use, article of clothing you wear, product you buy, all had some form of art implemented. You can also thank art for your beloved games, as well. I could say, you don't have much to thank gamers (like the above) for.

Without art, there would be no form... to anything. Period.

  • You aren't really seeing the point. Yes, engineering requires a lot of drawing, but not all drawing is art in the sense that it is not always entertainment and art is rarely functional in design. Ads are not art. Try to refute this all you want, but it's true. And as for architecture and car design, what is the difference in how pretty or not something is? If it serves its purpose then that is what is important. The nice looking car performs the same job as the old beater. What's the point?

  • You're arguing with an art student, who is attending a school that teaches fine and media/commercial art -- so, the one who is likely to "not get it" is you.

I don't have to try to "refute" any of this because, well, I've been reading books and hearing lectures from teachers who have already done it.

Everything has an aesthetic, whether or not it undermines or adds to its basic function. Nearly everything, except maybe food, starts at the drawing board.

  • And yes, all drawing is technically art. As it applies to engineering, they call it "Technical Art", or "Drafting", taught both in trade/art schools and universities.

Any vocation that deals at all with drawing, you can pretty much bet there is fine art involved.

And, I don't know what musty ass you pulled"Ads are not art" out of, but you couldn't be more wrong. Advertising is an art trade, which is why it is commonly found in art school -- also, because graphic design is usually involved.

  • Ads are not art in the way that a marble sculpture is art. There's a difference between working in advertising and working as a film maker or painter/illustrator.

  • I honestly don't know how you can keep up this attempt to refute and art student. This is making no sense, at this point.

If you can look at an ad (even and illustrated one), with it's multiple elements of graphic design, photography, fashion, typography, and layout, and STILL say, "Naw, that's not art," then you're living in a world all your own, friend.

I can do that too. Cars are not machines. Computers aren't electronic. Dogs don't shit.

...real easy to pull things out your ass.
