Thanks for posting this. It's unbelievable! Penguins making Kool cigarettes. I always loved how they had that drunk appearing penguin in the ads-I was a child, but remember the Kool ads.

I've never seen a full-length 1930s advertising cartoon like this before. Single-image slides, yes - usually for upcoming movies, or local businesses. But not an entire cartoon.

It's a Brown & Williamson promotional film. It does remind me of the early black and white betty boop cartoons a little, but there's no rotoscoping in it

That animation studio basically invented rotoscopig if I remember right, but I'm not sure what your message is in reply to... the best example of it I remember is some halloween type dance that was rotoscoped in a betty boop cartoon

The guys from the Kool cigarette company have no conscience. They only make this kind of spots to seduce children into smoking cigarettes. They don't care whether they kill children or adults; they only want to make their profit

@batschlach Bullshit. Just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean it was made to appeal to kids. Theatrical cartoons were made to entertain audiences of all ages. It was only with the coming of television that people started associating cartoons with children's fare.

Besides, smoking used to be NORMAL. Hell, it used to seem like EVERYONE smoked.

This was a Brown & Williamson promotional film for "Kool" cigarettes usually shown in movie theaters

in the late '30s. The penguin used as the brand's "mascot" was originally known as "Kenny Kool", but renamed "Willie" after World War II {"Smoke Kools! Smoke Kools!", he'd remind radio listeners during the 1940's).
