You, good person, have officially made my day. There's nothing like seeing Buster Keaton undressing, kissing and generally being lovely when coupled with some PJ Harvey. Thank you very much! :-)
For those who don't know yet, there is a buster fan club called the Damfinos. They have a website and have a Buster convention each year in October around his birthday.
@TheBookWorm1718 My favorite scene out of all the Arbuckle/Keaton films (which I've watched probably more times than is healthy, ha ha) is a short one with just the two of them from Goodnight Nurse, "flirting" with each other (long story). It's hysterical. Buster totally seemed like he was about to lose it!
@eMuse5 I loved Goodnight Nurse, those two were hysterical, and yes, for some reason this was before Buster became the great stone face on film. It's funny because he spends his whole vaudeville career as a stoneface, and when he's in independent films, he never smiles there either, but with Roscoe he could actually let loose and laugh and smile. And for that one I always thought it funny that he walked around all the time with blood stained clothes, different kind of film there!
Some help please! Which Arbuckle/Keaton short is that where they're winking at each other? It cracks me up. I've been watching a bunch of their films here on YouTube but haven't run across that scene yet. Gotta love how those 1910s shorts, which I otherwise refer to as HOLY COW THESE ARE SO FREAKING OLD, are still funny today. Can you believe that a few years from now they will be 100 years old?
@eMuse5 And they are STILL a hell of a lot more entertaining than ANYTHING coming out today. You know what? I will pay the money to see these guys on the big screen, no doubt about it, it's uncommon that I pay to see anyone else in a theater.
@TheBookWorm1718 If I get a chance to see a Keaton film on the big screen--preferably with a live score--my life will be complete. Yes, I'm starting to love those unpredictable Comique shorts more and more...and my favorite moments are the little ones when you can tell that Keaton and Arbuckle were good friends, having fun goofing around together. They played off each other's skills well.
@eMuse5 Oh yes those two were terrific together, it's too bad that some of their films didn't survive. It's also too bad they weren't able to work together more than they did. One that I think is a perfect example of them working great together is The Bell Boy, that was HILARIOUS.
I started watching his films only two weeks ago and am hooked (and slightly obsessed)...already considering springing for the huge box set I saw on Amazon! I love everything about him. Happy to see other young fans out there like me!!
I forgot to say...the world needs to remember this man!Everyone should know him...he was too talented and amazing to be forgotten. Reading the comments on this video makes me happy. We're keeping him alive in our hearts :)
Buster was pure beauty. I think it's so intriguing to see how he still makes us swoon with his beautiful face...He's timeless and he was such a sweet man. Love Buster <3 Thanks so much for this video!
@vanessaLoveeful I'm 16 and in the same situation. None of my friends think he's cute, much less want to sit down and watch - horror of all horrors - a silent movie. Thank God for the internet - it lets you know there are other Buster-nuts out there. :)
Watch at 33 seconds in how Buster is trying not to laugh while he and the other guy undress in the changing room. It was taken from The Cameraman which is way after he stopped smiling in front of the camera. It's adorable!
B.K. is the greatest. Clips and music are superb together. This is the great thing about silents, you can give them a new flavor by reinterpreting the music. Impossible with talkies. This is my favorite
I love the music to this--great job!! I discovered Buster in the 1970s in a college film course and was AMAZED. Have seen a few of his films since then but now that they are being remastered on DVD, have rediscovered him thanks to DVDs and YOU TUBE---so many great videos. Yes he was absolutely gorgeous and so funny and athletic. What a man. I never get tired of watching him either!!!!
I honestly thought I was the only woman in the 21st century who thinks Buster Keaton was handsome and sexy. I was quite surprised the first time I saw his abs. Yummy things do come in small packages. He was so adorable!!!!
The music's fine, @bwiel. I often turn the sound off to really badly done old-timey music because I find that irritating unless it's just a simple piano. Plus, you're obviously making a very fun statement here with the visuals. Very fun indeed. :)
I think Buster's appeal was he didn't "flaunt" his sex-appeal. His unassuming character gave him that much more charm. Also, he is one of the few silent comedians that displayed in his films, a very healthy sex drive. Add to that an athletic virtuosity and grace I find him quite appealing too for these reasons.
@jenlikeshorses That was great, obviously he had a whole lot going on under those outfits he always wore, *growl*, not as good though as when he falls in the pool and is obviously naked, that's just priceless!
@TheBookWorm1718 Oh yes, that bit is rather good isn't it. He does a quick dive under the water to get away from the girl and you can see that he is indeed naked... :D
Glad to see I am not the only woman that appreciates your great music with the great subject of Buster Keaton. Thank God we can appreciate the beauty of this man so many years later. What a face! What a smile! What a body! God definitely had perfection in mind when he created this awesome man. I never tire of watching him. Am I crazy or what?!!!!!!
@Lecy1982 I'm not sure if he was ever considered a "sex symbol" but he was definitely popular in his time. There is a really good documentary about him that can be found here on youtube. It's called "Buster Keaton: a hard act to follow" You should check it out.
