It is also handy on stage because if your double pedal breaks, the drum tech can simply snap on a left-handed variant that you can work with while they tinker with the pedal.
However I would use a 2 BD 2 single pedal setup because it sounds better, is deemed more useful to the other BD and replacing a single pedal on stage is easier than a whole double pedal.
I really don't why JJ is playing with double bass drums? :P Is it to look cool, or something? It really don't make any sence, atleast if he had another normal pedal besides the other one, so he had 3x speed? :P
@psychodrummer94 Unfortunately pearl haven't released that yet. You could make a 24 bass drum but the pad the bass hits is small any way if you look at pictures!
I am probobly gonna get a lot of negative response for saying this. But here goes. Let me start by saying I love Pearl Drums I even bought a Forum kit for my first kit back in 96. That being said let me say this. I also own a Rolland Pro stage Kit with the TD-12S sound mod. I bought that as a practice/recording kit. I fell in love with them for the ease of moving them from place to place. I think most poeple that go to electric drums make the change for the smaller size kits. now go easy on me
I am really thinking od getting this,i like the idea of true looking e drumset with many samples,it is great for live shows,BUT can i use the R.E.D Module seperate to plug in lets say my pedal?
I just bought mine yesterday and almost didn't make it to work, because I didn't want to go to bed...the feel of these drums is amazing, they feel real. I will post my review in a few days....stay tuned!!!
But don't take me bad, I know that eletronic drums is good to pratice and stuffs like, but, to record and play live, there is nothing like a real kit.
i played this kit at guitar center and i have to be honest I didnt like it to much. it was not sensitive at all. i really had to hit it hard to get a sound out of it. is there any way to make the pads more sensitive?
As much as I like Pearl and plan to get an Icon rack to replace my curent one, I do wonder why Jordison is using double bass pedal with a 2-bass drum setup. Is there something we need to know? Honesty alwas wins. Also, You guys should sell the heads and cymbals separately. Alot of DIY drmmers wuld LOVE those cymbals, like myself.
@DWRhythm He's got that cause it's the same and probly this is not his pedal,it's harder to adjust 2 different pedals to play 5 mins for a video, also it's about the looks mate.If u got a big 4 tom set with one kickdrum u look retarded.
@yoyoyoyo078 The Demon Drive Pedal does not come with the e-Pro Live kit but I hope you check one out while at your Authorized Pearl Dealer. There isn't a Pearl e-china cymbal at this time but you can designate a china sound on any of the existing e-Pro Live cymbals.
I'm interest in learning how to play drums (have no experience) but I would have to get an electronic set because of my current living situation so that I can control the volume. This one looks great so far, but I have a question about the cymbals. In the video the guy mentioned that the cymbals used are real...does this mean that I won't be able to control how loud the cymbals are?
@GankaholicNerd Although we use brass cymbals for the triggers, you'll still be able to control the level of sound heard through your headphones or speakers. Please remember that if you're using headphones, the sound of the stick striking the cymbal surface will still be heard. Find the nearest Pearl Dealer and check it out for yourself.. go to pearldrum. com/Dealers/United-States.aspx
Pearl needs to sell the trutrac heads separately. They'd make a killing off those who don't have the space or money to invest in a completely new kit. Sounds like a no-brainer to me. $3k on a huge kit or $600 on a 4piece Kit Mod?
I bought a set this weekend......love it. The sounds when played through my PA are incredible. The videos on line don't do this kit justice. I love the actual drum sizes versus the 8" sizes of my old Roland kit. My only concern is that the E classic cymbals can't be hit just anywhere. The best sound occurs when you hit the top of the cymbal. I prefer to hit the edges on a crash (like a real cymbal) for optimum affect and volume. I guess I need to work on the adjustments a little bit.
how can i edit my own class, save it, and still have it after i turn it off, because everytime i edit a kit and save it, it goes back to its default setting.
I know my band will want me to get this! If you could by the tru trak heads and red box separately, I would definitely do that. But I think the drums only come in 10, 12, 14, and 20 kick.. If I am wrong, somebody please enlighten me"!!
@Fortminor09 Currently the e-Pro Live kits has a rubber and a brass cymbal package to choose from. The rubber cymbal package includes a 12" hi-hat, 12" crash, and 14" ride. The brass cymbal package include 12" crash, 16" ride, and 12" brass top/plastic bottom hi-hat.
@jabbowokee13 The first shipment will leave the Pearl Headquarters this month... however the first kit will ship to our recent e-Pro Live Contest winner!
There are two bass drums with two double pedals so when he moves around the kit he can still play double bass, it's very smart actually, and this kit is amazing.
am i missing something or....? when that first dude is hittin the drums it looks like theres a double beater on the 1 bassdrum but theres 2 bassdrums so its just for show? :P
i would have liked to see a clip of how the kit sounds with the volume off to get an idea for the noise level but whatever im getting one anyways o i dont really care
how are you supposed to use this as an acoustic set when the the hi-hat cymbal only has the top part?
and also, do the cymbals make when the set is turned off (just like real cymbals) or do they only make noise when you're playing the set is turned off?
to listen to yourself playing do you have to connect the redbox to an amp or speaker, or is there a speaker included?
im only watching the video just to hear to the module, because im getting the alesis dm10 studio, or the pro kit, whichever, and the modules are exactly the same just rebranded for pearl anyway
Now i like electronic drums for the purpose of being able to practice in the middle of the night or in the morning without anyone bitching..how loud are these heads and cymbals?
@PearlDrumCorp They should be. Personally, I don't need another drum set, my Masters BRX is all I need, but the ability to switch heads on my kit to make them digital? That would be invaluable to anybody.
If you could sell the R.E.D. Box and the Heads (and possibly the cymbals) you don't need to sell the whole package, could sell it for less and appeal to those who don't need an extra kit, but need a practice kit just without buying a second. (Redundancy of no need to buy a second kit, yes. Just trying to throw out an Idea haha)
you can probably tune the acoustic heads... lugs r there but sample wise you should be able to find tuned to ur liking... 100 sounds would be enough 4 me... im not picky eithe so that's almost too many
my only problem is 2 things, first if the cymbals are brass, then wouldnt they make noise outside of the electric sound they make and also if they are made out of real brass, they would break the sticks, unlike other electric kits, but then you can get the plastic cymbals.
All electronic drum sets make clicking noises, even the plastic/rubber ones. The brass cymbals are like the Surge from Alesis, they either have a coating or an extra layer to stop the sound. Yes they will probably still make noise but not as bad as you think.
@PPLSUP4 hes had his kit like that for the last 3 or 4 years. he used two kick pedals with two bass drums on the first 3 Slipknot records. dunno why he uses a double pedal now
is it possible to take a regular acoustic kit, trigger it,and replace the normal heads and cymbals with mesh ones and use it as an electronic drum kit? because I think Pearl has an amazing idea having 2 kits in 1 and I would like that same ability...but without shellin out the few thousand dollars
the only reason i would get these, is if i lived in an apartment or something, or just to play around with the cool sounds. Im just an acoustic drums kinda guy.
Seems like this is the closest e-drums have come, but they still are "not there" yet. There are some things this kit can't do, nor can ANY e-kit do. Play brush patterns WITH brushes (esp the white noise swish) and play VERY soft press rolls with sticks. Also, although the cymbal bell sounds good, riding the ride and crashing the crashes sound like acoustic cymbals that are either clamped down too tight and/or have excessive tape on them resulting in a dead or muffled sound.
I have owned several pearl kits over the years so I am a huge fan but this kit sounds electric. The drums look and sound good. The cymbals is what would keep me from purchasing this kit. The sound is not even close to a real cymbal. Could be the settings on the kits they chose but being that this is pearls demo vid, I would expect more from them. Great start but would wait for the second generation of this kit before I would purchase.
Yeah but how will it sound when you go acoustic and place skins on?

my only problem is 2 things, first if the cymbals are brass, then wouldnt they make noise outside of the electric sound they make and also if they are made out of real brass, they would break the sticks, unlike other electric kits, but then you can get the plastic cymbals.
whiteweding1 1 year ago
All electronic drum sets make clicking noises, even the plastic/rubber ones. The brass cymbals are like the Surge from Alesis, they either have a coating or an extra layer to stop the sound. Yes they will probably still make noise but not as bad as you think.

I like how Joey has a double bass kit, but uses a double bass pedal, point in having the other bass drum?
Looks better I geuss.

@PPLSUP4
I think he uses the other bass drum as a different sounded bass drum, so he can play two different bass drum in a song (forgive my english)

@PPLSUP4 hes had his kit like that for the last 3 or 4 years. he used two kick pedals with two bass drums on the first 3 Slipknot records. dunno why he uses a double pedal now

you could buy 2 of these kits for the price of a Roland td-20 so i think these are priced pretty fair
Roland td-20=$6999.99
pearl e pro=$3199.99 [w brass symbols]
pearl e pro=$2999.99 [w/o brass symbols]

is it possible to take a regular acoustic kit, trigger it,and replace the normal heads and cymbals with mesh ones and use it as an electronic drum kit? because I think Pearl has an amazing idea having 2 kits in 1 and I would like that same ability...but without shellin out the few thousand dollars
anybody know if this can be done?

if you happen to have the right diameter it should work, but it would still cost A LOT to get anything that feels like real drums

can you put the pads on any other kit? like my old pearl kit, just sell the pads and cymbals if they fit.

the only reason i would get these, is if i lived in an apartment or something, or just to play around with the cool sounds. Im just an acoustic drums kinda guy.
SmileyFace131213 2 years ago
Acoustic or electronic, BEST of both words.

Do the cymbals have prechoke? like on the Yamaha DTXtreme IIISP?
