  • @computerjantje IM STARTING SCHOOL AND I NEED A LITTLE EXTRA CASH!

  • 25TH DOCUMENTARY HEY, CAN I SEE 24TH, BY THE WAY, IT IS A COOL VIDEO, I LIKE :)

  • at 0:08 seconds it went out of focus, and then again a second or so later. Not what I would expect from such an expensive camera.

  • @M1thotyn haha its all manual focus. blame the cameraman or send him back to canon maybe ;)

  • @M1thotyn thats due to the lens, not the camera...., its an effect that can actually add to the overal composition or look you want to achieve.

  • hot :F

  • she wants to jump your bones dude!

  • I know the reason why the camera quality looks so good on the 5d is becuase its a full frame cmos censor, but whats the difference between the other censors? Like whats so much better with a full frame?

  • focus was in and out, a little distracting.

  • dude her eyes pupils are like HUGEE

  • @inam0001 She did drugs

just kidding lol it looks a bit dark where she is, im sure it's the reason

  • @blackxthink good point :P

  • @inam0001 Huge pupils ? Dude why do you think he's using F2.8.

  • @broadcastsfromearth chill out .. u need to see the comments before u talk :)

  • @inam0001 why do you gotta ruin my perfectly good lark... do you not see the link between aperture and pupils ? have you even read your own comment ? because it is the very same chill level. which by the way is probably not the only comment that i had read before i hit the reply button don't you think.

  • @broadcastsfromearth trol... if u had a life you wouldn't give a shit .. so yeh.. grow up ..

  • @inam0001 yes thanks for the advice, if only i was as mature as you

  • Felt in love!

  • amazing depth of focus, I love it.

  • a 24-70 :'( i want it

  • she reminds me A LOT of emma roberts

  • Nice depth-of-field. I can only get that by standing back quite a bit and zooming in with my camera, which can't be done in lots of rooms. How close is the camera here?

  • @1simonmatthews Not trying to be a douche here, but just a hint. Zooming in doesnt affect your depth of field, but magnification does. If you frame something exactly the same way with a 35mm f/2.8 lens compared to a 300mm f/2.8 lens the dof is similiar. Of course the picture might look somewhat different because of the field of view, but im just talking about pure bokeh-licious backgrounds ;-)

  • @laxativee Don't know about you, but zooming in definitely affects the depth-of-field on my camera anyway. As I say, if I stand back away from the subject and zoom in, anything behind or in front of the subject becomes out of focus. That's shallow depth-of-field, or shallow focus, isn't it? And if I don't zoom in then everything remains in focus, which is deep focus. Hence, zooming in affects depth-of-field. If I zoom in, the depth-of-field is affected.

  • @1simonmatthews To make it a bit more clear. If you are not moving forwards or backwards and only zoom on your subject - thus framing your subject tighter - the depth of field will be and appear to be very much thinner, but as i said, if you use the same framing, your focal length is not going to affect your depth of field. Only your aperture and the size of your sensor (which actually only changes the magnification too).

  • @laxativee And to make it a bit more clear to you. If I wish to achieve shallow depth-of-field with my Sony DSR 200 video camera and the one built in lens that it has, I zoom in on the subject and stand back further. If I don't zoom in and obtain the same framing then the depth-of-field is not shallow and everything is in focus. Zooming in DOES affect the depth-of-field. This is simply a fact that I could demonstrate easily enough.

  • @1simonmatthews Wrong.

  • @laxativee No, you are wrong. Here's one paragraph copied and pasted from an article on the subject, and there's many more: The "trick" is to let the camera focus in macro mode while you're optically zoomed all the way in. "Tighter zoom is shallower DOF" and Macro Reduces the DOF even more.

Note the part about the zoom affecting the DOF? Sorry but I think perhaps you should teach yourself a little more before you attempt to teach other people. Stop being a douche ;)

  • @laxativee And another one: ZOOM! Set your camera on full zoom – but NOT digital zoom. If you don’t know the difference, look at the little bar that comes up when you zoom. There will be a line or a marker where it crosses into ‘digital zoom’. NEVER use digital zoom, it’s just cropping your pic in the camera, you can do that later. So zoom in as far as you can. Yes, this will mean you have to back up across the room to get everything you want in frame, but it makes a difference. Want more?

  • @1simonmatthews What if i just happen to own fixed focal length lenses? My 5D2 doesn't even have a digital zoom. Odd for you to attack me like that. I know what i'm talking about and my point stays. Hack, i wouldn't be shooting professionally if i didn't know even the basics about lenses and depth of field. If you frame a subject the same way (ie same magnification) the only thing that affects your depth of field is your aperture. It doesn't matter what focal length you are shooting with.

  • @laxativee What do you mean attack you? You started by telling me that zooming in doesn't affect depth-of-field, and I told you that it does and provided evidence to support my claim. Zooming in DOES affect depth-of-field. Jeez, I've copied and pasted from articles on photography that explain that zooming in affects depth-of-field. You need to research this fact because you have obviously overlooked it. And by the way, I have a professional qualification in photography myself.

  • @laxativee Ah I see what has happened here. Don't worry, my comment that starts "Zoom! Set your camera on full zoom..." was just copied and pasted from an article that explains how to achieve shallow depth-of-field by zoomin in. It appears that I was telling you to "Zoom!" but don't worry, I wasn't. It wasn't an attack. That whole comment was copied and pasted, apart from the last two words asking if you wanted more evidence. Trust me, DOF is affected by zooming in with an optical zoom. Friends?

  • @1simonmatthews I'm starting to get annoying, i'm sure, but zooming in really doesn't change depth of field. It just makes the depth of field appear to be smaller, because of the magnification and field of view. It's explained pretty well in the article i hinted you to look at. No harm done though. I'm just not giving up ;)

  • @laxativee Mate, try to listen, I copied and pasted from two photography articles that actually state in words that zooming in obtains shallower depth-of-field. Here is one again:

    "Tighter zoom is shallower DOF."

Can you understand those words? They don't say "Tighter zoom makes the DOF appear shallower", they say "Tighter zoom IS shallower DOF". Plain and simple. And I know that it is true because I've done it! You may not if you don't even have a zoom. You need to learn more.

  • @laxativee Depth-Of-Field is just the distance between the nearest and furthest objects in a scene that appear in focus. If I place two objects on my coffee table a foot apart and film them whilst zoomed out, they both appear in focus. But if I zoom in with my optical zoom and then stand back to obtain the same framing, only one of the objects will be in focus. This is shallow focus. Would you like to wager a bet on this? Because I can film this (with two cameras) to prove it right now.

  • @1simonmatthews You need to learn the difference of what IS a short depth of field compared to what APPEARS to be short depth of field. It's all just about field of view and magnification fooling you to think that the depth of field is smaller. Go ahead, measure the circle of confusion with a depth of field calculator. You wont find a difference between a 300/2.8 lens compared to a 35/2.8 lens when shooting with the same magnification and aperture.

  • @laxativee This is copied and pasted from the web definition of Depth-Of-Field: "In optics, particularly as it relates to film and photography, depth of field (DOF) is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image." Now, as I have repeatedly explained, zooming in with an optical zoom will shorten the distance needed between two objects to obtain shallow DOF. One object WILL be out of focus. An object cannot SEEM to be out of focus!

  • @laxativee Now I've repeatedly proven my case by copying and pasting from articles on the subject. The last comment I made simply cannot be argued. It's PROOF that what I say is correct. It is a simple fact that you need to accept. You obviously have a problem in accepting things. Now, I'll ask you one last time, do you want to put money on it because if you do then I'll make a video that will PROVE my case right here and now. Otherwise, go and do some more research, you're getting on my nerves.

  • @laxativee Do you even know that if you zoom in with an optical zoom that nearby objects that were originally in focus will become blurry? That IS shallow DOF. Is this something you have even tried? Or are you arguing about something that you haven't even tried yourself? Do yourself a favour, type in something like "Shallow focus by zooming in" and actually try to learn about it instead of remaining so incorrigible. Get yourself a camera with optical focus and try it out so that you know.

  • @1simonmatthews I've tested it out with several optics and yes, im willing to bet money on it. I'm 100% positive that zooming in ie the focal length doesn't affect depth of field but just makes a background appear more blurred because of the field of view ie what some people call telephoto "compression". If you actually went out and tested it out you'd notice that the circle of confusion will be identical with a photo framed the same way, regardless of the focal length.

  • @laxativee If the background appears more blurred after zooming in, as you say, then that IS shallower depth-of-field than before zooming in. How can it be anything else? I want you to copy and paste the definition of the term "Depth-Of-Field" from a web article, just so that we both know the meaning of the term. Can you do that please? Just search "Depth-Of-Field" and copy and paste from the article ok. Thanks.

  • @1simonmatthews Read the article i posted. Everything is explained there.

  • @laxativee No, no, for the purpose of this argument and so that it's on record here for both of us to see, copy and paste the meaning of the term "Depth-Of-Field" please. What's the matter? Don't you want to? I wonder why?

  • @1simonmatthews So you want me to take a snip out of an article just to provide you with a quote that loosely might be understood as if your point of view is the correct one. It's optics, it can't be quoted in one sentence like it's done on super ultra pro digital photography magazine 5000.

  • @1simonmatthews Put it simply. Depth of field is the area in focus ie the area with an acceptable circle of confusion. Zooming in doesnt change circle of confusion thus not affecting depth of field even if it looks like it because of the magnification and field of view. Things will APPERAR more blurred because they are viewed LARGER due to the smaller FIELD OF VIEW. I know its a pain to get, but it's also the truth.

  • @laxativee So Depth-Of-Field is "The area in focus" - your words. And zooming in with an optical zoom ALTERS the "area in focus". It doesn't APPEAR to alter the area in focus - it actually ALTERS the "area in focus". If I don't zoom in, two objects a foot apart will BOTH be in focus - if I zoom in, one object will be in focus and one will be "out of focus". Can you understand this simple English? Or do you have a problem with English comprehension? I'm going to swear at you soon.

  • @1simonmatthews No. Depth of field is not the area in focus. Depth of field is the area where circle of confusion is acceptable. The area in focus is much smaller. See, if you print a photo compared to a web sized 800x533 photo the printed one will appear to have a bigger depth of field due to the fact that its more magnified. Same thing with zooming occurs.

  • @laxativee Are you trying to tell me that an object that appears blurred is actually in sharp focus! Hahahahaha - you need help! XD

  • @1simonmatthews Out of arguments i see.

  • @laxativee Not quite. I asked you a question. Are you trying to tell me that an object that appears blurred is actually in sharp focus? Because that is what your comment implies. Can you answer that question whilst I wait for my Depth-Of-Field Demo that proves you are wrong to upload?

  • @laxativee Right, my video proof is uploaded now. The title is Depth Of Field Demo Using Optical Zoom On A Sony DSR 200 Camcorder. You'll find it on my channel. The video shows two tins of food. By zooming in I am able to throw one of the tins out of focus. This means that the act of zooming in affected the DOF, because that's what DOF is. There's no two ways about it. I know you won't admit it though because you are a douche.

  • @1simonmatthews After all, we'd all hate to disagree with the undisputed leader in the optics industry, Carl Zeiss? My point it clearly staten and proved in the following document. Taking all your information from a 5 buck photography related magazine wont get you far in the world of physics.

  • @1simonmatthews I found a good article every photographer seriously wanting to know something about depth of field and also controlling it. Maybe you'll read it a few times and then try out yourself.

  • The problem with this is that the 5D is SO damn good, and the lighting on this just happen to be SO damn good... I wanna know what happens next; I wanna see them run out for those "much needed supplies."

  • The problem with this camera is that it only works with beautiful women.

  • @watchyourvideo No, it's a magical camera. Every woman appears beautiful using this camera. In real life she's all snaggle toothed, and frizzy haired.

  • you fall in love, you loose! And i just lost.... :(

  • some of you guys really need to get out more. she's beautiful with, what we could see from 30 seconds, has a good spirit, but there are plenty of fish in the sea that are just as beautiful with the same kind presence. nice clip regardless.

  • Fun clip. She has a great spirit. I just did a tutorial on 5D Mark II filmmaking (gear and techniques). Check'em if you would... Cheers. -Demi

  • @r0nej00 as I have not videoed straight for over 30 minutes I cannot comment further, but as I said that is in the manual. For overheating as a problem..... I don't think that would be a problem for me as I video at present in night temperatures from 2' C to 12' C so maybe it would do a auto-cool....

  • @r0nej00 Thanks for the reassuring information, I just didn't want to invest in something that would be old technology when I got it. But now I know thanks again!

  • Is this camera still a good camera (considering its two years old) or is there a new one like the 5D M2 on its way

  • is it albe to focus automatically?

  • lol she's on XTC

  • what does she say in the end? "its my 25th documentary?" ..wot?? :\

  • beautiful woman :)

  • Is she on facebook? O_O

  • hi, i was wondering if you could quickly tell me something.

i wanted to get a canon 500D or 50D, because the 5D was too expensive. i wanted it primarily for video, but i recently found out that the 500D and 50D dont record audio and they dont actually record video unless the camera is plugged into the computer via USB. my question is; clearly the 5D has audio recording aswell, but does it actually have a video function? or does it too have to be plugged in to the computer in order to record?thnx

  • @thomasgoodin Hi, was just watching this clip and saw your question, not my business, but as no-one had answered you.... yes it does have video capabilities and with fast card can run a 30 minute clip without any problem and more if needed.

I have a 5D Mk II and am still learning about it's function settings.

    Jim

  • this reminds me 'cloverfield,' one of the best movie for me.

Watching this video like all night, now I should go to bed.

  • 50482 views and no comments...come on

  • awesome quality

  • i see problem with focusing

  • how do you manage focusing? I can see that it could be little tricky here and there ...

  • wow this video is amazingly clear!!!! i sO want the 5D but cOst sO much.. i think ill just have to settle with the 7D.. $1000 difference is kinda alot of money :( but man! everytime i watch a 5D Mark ii video compared to the 7D i just think twice again

  • @j051885 I feel just the same way... I think I'll keep on saving to get the 5d.

  • is it autofocus when you recording audio also?

  • no one seems to have the answer, want to convert HD from my t1i canon camera into a dvd

  • @farstarfilms Use Compressor in FCP studio.

  • @unixsuperuser thanks for info are there any online downloads?

  • Hot.

  • Pretty lady

  • she's beautiful.....

  • She is squint.

  • Did you use the built in or external mic? If so, which one? Sounds good!

  • Thanks for shooting without all the bells and whistles, because that's what I've been waiting to see. You know just how it would look just shooting straight out of the package. Looks great!!

  • nice girl )) nice Mark II ;-P

  • haha I was wondering what kind of hd cameras were available, and the canon 4d mark 2 impressed me the most so i decided to search it on youtube and i clicked on this vid....the funny part is that you have videos of me.....i march blue devils snareline.

  • Gorgeous camera, nice girl too.

  • wow! she is so beutiful.

  • she kind of looks like Haley the lead singer from Paramore. =D

  • no.

  • whats the maximum minutes/hours that you film with this camera

  • 12 mins i believe

  • @TuamLis not exactly correct, it shoots 12 minutes with a 4GB card but if you have say 32GB it shoots 30 mins stops, then 30 mins, etc. til the card is full.

    Jim

  • ... fav? FAAAAAAV!

  • Gawds sake man focus the camera!!!

  • She is beutyfull and im talking about the girl not the cam! :P

  • so this camera DOES record audio? I hadn't seen any mention of it on the internet and was one of the reason I didn't want to buy it.

  • Lemme get this sraight; you're taking the native h.264 MOV files from the 5D Mark II and rendering them out as a Sony MainConcept AVC/AAC .mp4 file.

    So whaddaya need Quicktime for???

    Thank You!

  • pretty!

  • holy FUCK BALLS. This camera fucking blows my shit every time I see a video. Like what the FUCK. Honestly. It turns any lighting into like, the PERFECT scenario.. I MUST HAVE THIS CAMERA!!! OMG!! O_O
