  • This is the song of Life!!! its a guild line we all should live by

  • I was 10 or 11 when this came out. Always played this tune in my mind when teachers and parents gave me grief if my grades weren't up to their standards (I'd tell them I'm the same integrity if I get an A+ or F-), kept it playing when the jocks, the geeks, and every other group sneered at me for "not fitting in". Glad I did ... I'm going to be 50 in a few months and am doing shitloads better than most of the above are.

  • I remember this from my early teen years - great song.

  • Scottrade stole it for a commercial. Brilliant !

  • WE ALL HAVE TO HOLD OUR HEAD UP, THROUGH ADVERSITY, PAIN, DISPAIR, LOSS, EVERYTHING THAT HAS BROUGHT US DOWN..ITS HARD TO DO, BUT NOW I HAVE TO DO IT MORE THAN EVER..TOO BAD IT TOOK ME SOOOO LONG TO DO, BUT THAT DAY IS HERE....

  • @yordoDj28 try here youtube.com/watch?v=sb9Zxs7Em_g

  • @yordoDj28 youtube

  • Always dug this music.

  • 1:46 is my favorite organ fill on the tune. Saw these guys live c'72. Of course, you can't necessarily expect a great player to do the same riff in the same part of a tune, but I was anxious to hear -whatever-. When the time came, no riff at all: Rod was brushing his long hair out of his eyes . Now THAT'S improvisation!

  • (note to self!) ... ;^)

    "HOLD YOUR HEAD UP" "WHOA"

    "HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH"

  • Saw them last night in Southampton - original line up - Ballard looks like he's 30 not 65 . Talent oozes from these guys - no egos either - tanks for a great night.

  • ההמנון

  • This song came out when I was young and catching crap from everywhere, the rich kids at school, the white girls at church, the stuck up adults who didn't want to be bothered by a poor Indian girl living in the city... this song was a lifeline at that time!

  • @okieNDNgurl I can remember my life like that at the time also

  • @okieNDNgurl sorry that happen to you . Been there to .Seen the truth from the church lol .No good in it .I will stand for the one true God from the begining. When something happen to them say not a word . Bless is you

  • @okieNDNgurl great story, music was like that for me too...like the only thing that didn't get up my @ss.

  • WHERE'S ," SCHOOLGIRL"?

  • VERY POWERFUL INDEED

  • Very Powerful indeed!!!!! This applies to each one of us.

  • Today - National Coming Out Day 2010 - let's dedicate this video to all the gay kids being bullied and taunted and made to feel less than human! Take these (still powerful) lyrics to heart, and --

    HOLD YOU HEAD UP!

  • I like the picture of the eagle - the King of birds soaring confidently in the sky !

  • A nice apache song. Hold your head up like a proud apache. ha ha !

  • fantastic! - holding my head up and holding..........

  • HMS Ganges, 1972 relaxing at the bowling alley...memories

  • Im a Disco guy, eventually got caught endearing songs from another genres, this song is nice, the singing and the lyrics, but too much strings make me feel nervous, whit the universe of options I think that I will hardly try to play it again.

  • This is the jam right here! Been having a tough time these past few days, well, this song has made it a little better to deal with.

  • lovin it I am playing it today ...to hold my head up

    @RuthieAppleby

  • Eternal.

  • I love the Eagle in the instrumental section

  • i randomly have this song in my head atm >.<

  • Great to hear this again. This was in the charts when I was going through a period of severe bullying in school, with all the lies and nastinesses. Since then, "Hold Your Head Up" has been one of my life's anthems. Anyone who's going through it, be it in school, home, work, or anywhere: set your life to the rhythm and words of this song and don't let the bullies win!

  • always reminds me of summer camp

  • me and them all went fishing and rabbit hunting together yesterday

  • An all-time great song written by keyboardist & former Zombie Rod Argent & Chris White (bass). The keyboard solo in the middle is one of the best of all rock in my opinion. A very sad thing is that when the song is cut, some of the best of that solo is eliminated. Thanks for posting the full version.

  • Heard this on the radio just today on radio 2 ( don't ask me why) in tesco car park. Made me so confident I skived the rest of the day.

  • Speaking of retro - remember Shasta? We're back on TV for the first time since the 80s, check out at sneak peek right here on Y/T at "Heads Up Shasta". Spot will break later this summer.

  • oh yeah...tweeting this puppy out hugs xxxoo

  • I've always liked this song but could never catch the name of the artist or group, now I know.

  • I have heard this song since 1972 , first time I've knew all the lyrics. Greater than ever! Thanks.

  • the quality of the sound is excellent considering

  • Love it. The instrumental part is idyllic. What I wouldn't give to bring back those days of the 1950s, 1960s and early 70s and its brilliant music. Today's music can't come close to what we heard in those days. Thanks for making the song and lyrics available.

  • @1976 rewind index

  • ^^ encontrado ^^

  • Love this song. It's 1972, I'm 16 and spending a great summer with my friends in NJ. The summer of my first kiss--and ultimately my first heartbreak! This song just brings it all back. Awesome.
