SOXFAN2K4 is right, the replacement can either be the same looking part or another part with the same color. Also, the "bottle" is a fire extinguisher for when fires break out. You can also press on of the side buttons to move faster....

me and my father used to play this a lot.. I can't remember what the bottle was for either.. i think it was for things moving to fast to cool them off but I'm not sure. I have to download this since my Intelivision got destroyed in Hurricane Charlie

IF it says replace this you have to replace it with the corresponding part but if it says Cut out, it means you have to replace it with a wire which is all the way to the right, hope this helps :P

When the voice says "replace this", you need to match either the color or the shape. When it says 'cut this out", you use the gray wire. Simple as that

I made my last comment before the video was over, but one more thing regarding something you said: You're correct that some screens you have to match the part and others you have to match the color, but there's also the case where you match neither. In those cases you have to use the little gray "minus sign" piece on the far right.

The bottle looking thing is the fire extinguisher. On more difficult skill levels sometimes the parts will catch fire and you need it to put them out. Also, you can hear the sequence of which parts you need to cut out over again by pressing (I think) 7......on the overlay it'll say which.

In its day this game was incredibly fun, but its a game that hasn't aged particularly well.
