  • fuk usa bitches.. wake up consumer societies. mther fukers.

  • why arnt we digging deep for hot stuff to create steam lol it doesnt keep the cars going numb nuts we have nuke plants for energy to warm my house

  • If we dig down very deeply, we find a place that is very hot. It is hot enough to boil water. This makes steam. This turns turbines. This makes energy.

Why aren't we developing this energy source?

  • search for "Hot Dry Rock"

  • THE SWISS AND SUEDES DO THIS

  • Oil is running out. It is not an energy source for the future.

What are we doing about alternative sources of energy?

  • I agree, oil IS a finite resource, it took millions of years to form and cannot be replenished unless you have the patience to wait another few million years. Countries around the world now realise this peak is here hence Iran wanting to build nuclear power plants. We need to release alternative energy generation methods, as the current method is unsustainable!

  • Who ever thinks that oil magically grows from the ground needs to get his head examined. Oil is a limited resource just like how fresh water.

  • Why are we worried about oil?

Henery ford and Rudolf Deisel both designed their engines to work on cannabis oil. Henery ford called Gasoline a "toxic inferiour fuel to hemp".

They had to change to gasoline when Anslinger lied and said that cannabis is evil because it makes black men think they are as good as white men. Which is still the reason why cannabis is illegal today beleive it or not.

Why are we still dependent on second rate fuel that polutes and is non-renewable?

  • although i think inhaling the fumes from a car running on cannabis might be an interesting experience, i have some reservations about your solution.

whats the energy return from cannabis? wont be much compared to gasoline, how much would we need to grow to run todays fleet of cars and trucks? i don't think we would have enough farmland.

finding a balance with renewable fuels would require sacrifice from us westeners, not likely in my opinion.

  • Tar Sands require massive amounts of natural gas and freshwater. Scaling the tar sands for production would be an environmental nightmare

    Some facts about peak oil:

The world peaked in oil discoveries in 1963.

For the past 3 decades we have been using 5 barrels of oil for every 1 found.

America as well as 50 other oil producing countries have already experienced a peak in oil production.

The answer to peak oil is newurbansim . org

  • 2 stars.

Mr. Veejay assumption that buying oil from nationalised oil companies is more expensive than buying it from Exxon is ludicrous.

  • Our oil has killed my little brothers and sisters in Iraq! They killed my little babies for Oil and rapped my women for Oil. No To War you capatilist elite! Where Coming For You!

  • come on we will kill you to

  • You people are morons. We WILL run out of oil. Where the fuck do you think it comes from? Does it just magically appear as we need it?

  • I thought it just sort of grows underground!

Yes, they are morons...and the Veejay dude obviously has never done anything meaningful that would provide insight (physical, real)!

  • Too bad the economist from the Economist doesn't really have a fundamental understanding that the US is financially tapped out. We are going to throw billions and trillions of worthless dollars at a problem and get very little traction. Don't buy this BS, it is fundamentally unsound and has no real hard facts to base his optimism on.

  • haha, he's just joking around when he says dinosaur bones. don't take it literally! it's like when your mom says clean up your room or it's gonna be the end of the world. she don't really mean it.

he's definitely smart, but thinking in terms of economic theory instead of ecologically based economics.

he must not have seen the 1 cubic mile of oil image, showing how much other fuels you'd need to equal 1 CMO.

  • unbelievable how little views these videos get, who got here via the oildrum?

  • @delonewolf: I got here via The Oil Drum. P.S. This guy is so deluded. I guess he doesn't read through the articles on The Oil Drum...

  • that's what we can expect from an economist

Anyone who believes exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist

  • It's still an extremely unknown and distorted subject.......

Hell, they'll all still be talkin' the same BS (save Matt and Colin C., and few others) when Oil hits +$220 this time next year!

    Wait, that sounds outrageous... :)

  • Oil from the bones of crunched up dinosaurs! Hilarious. People are so stupid! We deserve extinction... This guy is an IDIOT. He knows nothing about energy, entropy, thermodynamics, or economics. His job: Pollyanna.

  • I don't take seriously anybody who thinks that oil comes from "the bones of crunched up dinosaurs"

  • I don't trust anyone who talks as fast as he does.

  • What a joke! Who is this bozo? If I were to bet on where the price of oil will go I will bet on Mathew Simmons and T Boone Pickens EVERY TIME! Two billionaires versus a fiction writer. It's a no brainer.
