It's kinda sad that he appears a little stoned here, like a lot of interviews from this time, but he still sounds amazing, we miss you Stevie, the sky still cries for you.
I like those lipstick pickups on that guitar. And all white.......love it!!! Oh, and that guy playing in ain't have bad either! LOL! SRV love ya man!
I think when he asked him to show him what he could do with the guitar, he was expecting something like "Rood Mood" or something and not "Life Without You" haha.
We should all acknowledge that this is the only video showing SRV playing the riff to "Castles made of Sand", and I think that ranks with sliced bread, the civil rights movement, and the discovery of penicillin
He looks like he's on coke there. He's all jittery. Poor guy. I've noticed that when he got older he got more laid back. When he was younger he went to town on the guitar a lot more.
@KwazyTwang i really dont agree if you talking about srv i thought he got even more attack and much faster when he got older which really isnt that old when he was only like 35 when he died
@leavittobeaver I'm sure he did come become a more accomplished musician with age. What I mean however is, he toned his perfomances down. Not that he didn't play the same songs. I just think he was less intense though than before.
@KwazyTwang@KwazyTwang i understand what you mean but i just think he played a lot of old school stuff that he really attacked hard but coming from a guitar player he didnt in my opinion ever loose that attack. he just doesnt seem to play as crazy as before like around the texas flood years. so i think your right but i gotta tell he stumps me with his powerfull bends and vibratos more in the 88 or 89 years then ever he just seemed to "feel" it more. i think were both right!
The interviewer said that SRV is playing with a wah pedal that belonged to Hendrix. His brother Jimmy Vaughan gave Hendrix his wah pedal in the late sixties when his band opened for one of his concerts. I wonder if its the same pedal? Probably not.
No, Jimi Hendrix gave Jimmie Vaughan his Vox wah-wah pedal when Jimmie opened a show for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, I think it was in Dallas Texas 1968 (not sure), and a couple of years later Jimmie gave it to Stevie.

This was on CTV and I saw it unfold live the interviewer is somewhat naive but at this time 84' 85' no one else was giving him time on tv.

SRV is the reason I play strats with heavy gauge strings (.12's). I have eight of them & wouldn't play another kind! XD

Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Vaughan traded wah's and eventually Jimmy Vaughan gave the wah to Stevie because he never really used it.
