Beautiful! Fantastic guitar. I see from earlier posts you have a book out on DADGAD. Will have a look for it. Would love to be able to play like that.
This is the reason I love YouTube. I would have never been fortunate enough to hear this if not for YT. A lot of emotion in that song, 5 stars. Come play for me in the States some time ;) Best wishes.
Thank you so very much, Giulio! I have a couple of gigs in Italy in October -- check out the calendar page on my website -- hope they're near where you are!
Lovely well done, your voice and guitar seam to be effortless, and your diction is so clear.
Ive just got into DADGAD myself after playing years of normal tuning, its opened another door.
Listening to you play and sing has opened other doors for me too. you've taught me the importance of relaxing whilst performing, something clicked when I watched this vid
Thank you so very much, Nigel! I've just put up a few more videos of a live performance in Scotland the weekend before last -- have a look and see what you think ...
From a northerner with a Dublin mother I have to say welcome and that I enjoyed this a lot. I loved the sparse but perfect guitar backing. I could never play that style. I play way too fast which is not always a good thing. I must slow down and try sometime.
lovely singing and guitar. my mum sings banks of the lea. did you write a book on dadgad? if so would you mind posting some session chords for guitar back up of traditional irish music. i got a lot from the book but i think i am more of a visual learner. cheers tom
Hello, Tom! Thanks a million for the kind comment. Yes, I wrote the Irish DADGAD Guitar Book. I'd say just go to the "chord diagrams" section of the book and play around with the various different chords Iwhile listening to CDs of unaccompanied tunes. Also see pp 31-32 and pp 45-46 re chords for backing tunes. I'm also thinking of doing a 4-day workshop on DADGAD and its uses in September, with more workshops to follow if that one goes well -- so do let me know if you're interested!
