  • This is such an underrated game! I think this is the best in the classic series! It's got awesome gameplay, awesome bosses, awesome special weapons, and you even get to run on the roof! Seriously! I don't know why this game is looked down on so much! It's great!

  • He is just talking about how the stages look and the music, and not how the game plays. Phatetically easy robot masters, powerless weapons, you can't charge while Megaman is sliding, enemies has stupid long invincibility, basically design errors, other weird stuffs. These things screwed up the whole game. Megaman 5 is the black sheep of the classic series.

  • 7:05 AMEN and your playing 1 of my top 3 robot masters themes (chargeman FTW!)

  • did you just say "fresh to death"? the only thing that was "fresh to death" was when the video ended and i didn't have to hear your voice.. cock monger

  • Mega Man 5 would have been better/easier, if they had not changed Rush Coil.

  • Megaman 5 was first Megaman and first NES game that I ever played, still leaves lots of great memories.

  • to me 1 like they had some idea what they are doing but not completely. 2 thats where it all began (first I played). 3 good I dont like it but dont hate it. 4 seems distant for some reason. 5 great havent realy tried it but some reason it seems good. 6 have it dont know why people say it sucks but i dont like it (I have different reasons to not like it. 7 good seems nice. 8 ... 9 great. ok now for nes I have 2 and 6 for wii 1 2 3 and 9

  • my friend had "castlevania: simon's quest"

turned out it was really mega man 5 in disguise. we played for 3 days. then i came home and ripped thru this game on my emulator. i was surprised at how much was after the original bosses. beating Dr. Wily was a long windy road of letters, birds, bullets, and bombs. the only thing to do now is figure out what megaman game can top this.

  • i love mega man haha

  • The only thing I don't like about this game is the story. It would have been so much more compleling if Protoman was actually behind what was happening. Fighting for robot rights or something.

I always liked the idea of Protoman being a good guy for robots, but not caring one way or another about humans.

  • oh, and megaman 3 WAS long, but not all that hard...since megaman 2 was difficult.

  • I find that tornado man's level is more like air or crash or ringman's. BUt I do see the resemblance to megaman 5....

  • Mega Man 5 is one of the best Mega Man games ever...

  • One of the worst thanks to Protoman's castle

  • MEGAMAN PART FIVE OF NINE

  • Megaman 4 and 5 are my favret ones didn't really 6

  • can't wait to see this on the VC

  • MM4 had bad boss design?

Am I the only one who likes every MM game?

  • No. I do to ^^. I was gonna make a top ten NES games and I couldn't choose wich Megaman game that should be on the list!

  • These guys obviously like every MM game. I do, too. MM4 still had a huge amount of stupid bosses. I mean, all games have one or two bosses I dislike (Hardman, Topman, Woodman, Gutsman, Blizzardman to name a few), I dislike almost every boss in MM4. It's just hard to take the concepts seriously. Even more so than with the normal kinda-whacky stuff that you see in MM3 and 5. Snakeman and Chargeman are, I think, good examples of cool bosses that should be stupid, but aren't.

    But Toadman is dumb.

  • I personally must say that I agree almost completely with the reviewer on this one. MM5 was the Classic series game I enjoyed the most, and still is to this day. The bosses were odd, but aren't they always? I mean, "Wood Man" -- who builds a robot out of wood? Just your typical Dr. Wily. I never used Rush much anyway; so MM5's downplaying of his role never really bugged me. The soundtrack is awesome, the stages were beautiful...what's not to like? And MORE PROTO MAN. MUST LOVE HIM. :D

  • Yeah, I agree with you NintendoMasterGC. "The bosses were odd, but aren't they always?". I mean..the robot masters are always odd !! That´s fun of it, I just don´t get how the people start saying that the names are cheese or bad designed.. I mean, WTF. I want to see that people making the design of a robot master.

  • ...Granted, some of it would be used in MegaMan soccer. In comparison to MegaMan 3 & 4, 4 had a better character design and better music score. As far as 3 goes (which is my favorite), I like that it was long and had a few past enemies as it brought an interesting challenge to the field. Plus, the music is top notch. In the end though, it is your review and your opinion. It's just that I cannot agree with it with the reasons that I have given.

  • That's why we have a different staff memeber do each MM game because we all like different things. It wouldn't be good if I reviewed MM4, because I wouldn't have anything nice to say, and same for Heat Man reviewing MM5.

  • You have a valid point. My gripe, though, is that unlike the other reviews, nothing bad was said about this game. No flaws, gripes, critiques, or anything of the sort was brought up. The other MMN reset reviews had faults, personal gripes, and critiques pointed out, while this one had none.

  • That's because I honestly have no problems with this game, at all.

  • I see...fair enough, to each his own, then.

  • Hmmm...interesting review, but I cannot agree with your views. After playing MM 1-8 and 'Mega Man and Bass', 5, to me, is the worst one. Granted, it did have innovated stages (especially Gravity Man) and Beat was introduced, however that is all that held it together. Some of the bosses and power-ups were of the weakest that i have seen (Starman's was just Woodman's power). I cannot agree with how great you put the music. The music is some of the worst that I have heard...

  • Personally i find Starman music kinda annoying, but the rest of the soundtrack is awesome =p

  • Agreed.

  • very nice

  • A follow up to my previous comment, the levels in MM5 to me are just more creatively designed and just more fun to play. Even if it does have maybe the worst master weapons in the series, to me only Gyro Attack was very useful.

  • Good recap once again. MM5 is kind of weird. Technically, it's worse then MM4 if you think about it...But to me, MM5 is much more fun to play. And yes, MM5 is incredibly easy. You actually can plow through the whole game with just the Mega Buster.

  • Good game, but not the top of his game.

Rush sucked in this one and the weapons were disappointing, plus the plot was predictable.

I think 6 stacked up far better but people passed that up so many will say otherwise because they didn't play it.

  • Megaman 5 was decent. At this point, though, the NES games started to lose their touch.

Still better than Megaman 6, though.

  • While Mega Man 5 has it's good sides, it has even more downsides. For example, Star Man's stage isn't much more than your average NES tinning, and some stage designs are inherently flawed, like the ride scene in Wave Man's stage. (Mega Man has Rush, right?) Speaking of Rush, they screwed the dog in every way possible. There's also incredible amount if healing items, making MM5 the easiest game in the series. It should be also noted that this game has the most worse names and designs for bosses.

  • I don´t know why I think that you saw SA (Craig) review of Mega Man 5....All these people saying the same that Craig said. The fact that you use an "aqua-bike" in Wave Man´s stage instead of rush, isn´t a flaw or wrong point of the game. I don´t know why people keep saying that the robot masters are wrong (desing or name), I mean WTF, could you do better desing of the robot masters?

  • I always loved the Gravity Man stage. When I was a kid that was the most fascinating thing to come to video games. Walking upside down on the ceiling blew my mind

  • I just replayed MM5 yesterday lol

I hadn't played it in years, and saw it as one of the worst, but I now switch my opinion to 4 being the worst, and 5 being one of the best. Music was great, stages were beautiful, only a few weapons were actually USEFUL, but the game was fun nonetheless. I especially like the Dr. Wily 1 and 2 stage themes :3

  • The credits music of this game is awesome ( :

While not my favorite, it's ture that MM5 was still great. ^_^

  • Good job yet again with this one Syl! Though, I have to disagree a bit on the music comment. After Mega Man 4 I think the music kinda lost it's charm. The only musical piece I really like out of Mega Man 5 is the Intro music. None the less, Kkep em coming homeslice! ;D

  • Very nice video 5* + fav

i love megaman 5 but the darkman stages are a little hard...

  • See you for Mega Man 6.

  • I love how these videos always point very important aspects of the games, and the game footage is very precisely in showing the good elements of the game. Even though the video doesn´t have a lot of narration, the few narration that it has, really tells what it´s important about the game. Perfect !!! By fans for fans.

  • One of the things I like about these is the sporadic narration. It gives you time to appreciate the purity of the games and the memories.

  • AWESOME !!

  • Syd, you rock yet again! It's awesome.

  • In before complaining about Goten's voice.
