It's a perspective thing. Both objects are identical (obviously) but wider (obviously) and thicker at the top than at the bottom, which through a 2D camcorder causes the illusion.

It's all about those angles of the shape curving in and getting smaller as it goes down. When you put the longer side under it, ti's going to look like the shape is longer than the other one. Kinda confusing to explain, but it's all based on the bottom of the shapes being shorter than the tops of them.
