  • SHOULDA BROUGHT MY VASOLINE ALONG FOR THIS ONE !

  • Ten seconds of Rick Derringer, Five seconds of Roger McGuinn and a whole minute of Noxema? I demand my money back...oh wait, I forgot that it was free. Sorry.

  • @1:55

  • I'm used to seeing Elaine Joyce as a blond on all those 70s/80s game shows.

  • it's Mc Guinn and McGuire as in eve of distruction Mc Guire not Derringer

    Nelson DeCoteau

  • After watching what turned out to be mostly commercials, the Byrds version of that song was just terrible. They were hurried along into a medley (with other groups not shown) by the shows producers, and directed to perform "Surf" rock which was not their style.I don't know why I expected it to be better.

  • That was a combination of two groups playing together: The McCoys and The Byrds.

  • it's McGuinn and Macguire...not derringer..was a song referring to barry macguire eve of destruction....

  • Half of the tune is done by the McCoys with the Byrds finishing up the second half. Of course that would have been obvious if I had simply opened up the notes section.

  • We still do. But, you have to PAY good acts. Why pay for talent, when you can get consummate amateurs for free?

  • fuck commercials, I'm a citizen not a consumer!

  • Hmm... The Rolling Stones got no screams but the Byrds did... That wouldn't have happened 5 years later.

  • @darling67 It started with Top of the Pops in England. It was fun in those days, before everyone was mopey and on Prozac.

    .

  • Check the line-up. We had no need for American Idol. We had too many good acts to search for more.

  • cheese, the commercial was longer than the song clip,

  • @Bluesebert Thanks for the warning. The song starts at 1:59

  • I was hoping for a full Byrds version, with McGuinn playing the riff on the 12-string. Oh, well.

By this point, I'd guess the Ramones' version is the most well-known.

  • McGuinn is cool as f*ck!!

  • @RamonesKaraoke you got that right!

  • Anyone that doesn't think that was EFFINGREAT doesn't have a pulse.

    Times change.

But strickly speaking - commercials will last forever.

    So will the music.

  • This was the issue of the mag that George Costanza used to pleasure himself

  • @BaronTurco Because it was there!

  • Oh good God get over yourselves. This is how it fucking worked in the way back. Godammit, bands did lots of covers you dumb motha fuckers!. It wasn't until

the late 60's when albums became more important. You dip shits try to read more into it than there is. Nobody forced them to play these songs. Fuck off

  • UH, let's be charitable and say that this old standard does NOT suit a folk-rock band! Great song; great band; but NOT together!

  • great song

  • Classic!!!

  • I know, about time, huh?! :-)
