Yes. The beginning of the Foo's was my favourite period of the band too and around the time of The Colour and the Shape was the band at their peak to me. They gained Taylor Hawkins for one which made them a lot better but they lost Pat Smear and I think that was a travesty. He's incredible to watch live. He gave the band loads of punk rock crediblity and personality. The guy who's in it now is as dull as dishwater in my opinion.

Actually they weren't even on speaking terms for a while. After Dave got his first divorce, Pat was good friends with his ex which lead to him leaving the Foos and not associating with Dave at all. They recently reconciled though and Pat joined them for the Skin & Bones tour and now the ESP&G tour. Good that they worked it out though.
