  • did he jst fly out of his car and got ran over ?

  • Did he die? and damn that would fucking suck

  • pussy shit id like to see you drive one of those. with out power steering.

  • OMG did he live?

  • these are midget cars not sprint cars

  • i wish ascot was still here

  • Holy Shit!

  • @brettzoro56 that is a sprint car it's hust a wingless a wing is just to turn tighter and keep the car down but not all people run with em dipshit

  • pussy shit

  • OK OK, I will settle this. It is a sprint car. Not long after this incident we put big rubber bands around the quick release arm so that nothing could accidently pop the latch while racing.

  • seat belts were good lol

  • Seatbelts a hot.

  • def not the most amazing but very scary. hope he made it out alright

  • jansson är helt jävla cp men eric är så jävla böög! cp eric!

  • Doesnt look like a sprintcar to me? wheres the wing? (not saying it wasnt an impressive crash tho :))

  • @Brettz0r056 It doesn't need a wing to be a sprintcar. Sprintcars have full size car engines. chevy, chrysler, ford engines up to as much as 410 cubes. Midgets are much smaller and run a variety of smaller engines like vw's 4cylinders ect it has nothing to do with wings whatsoever

  • @lenyo123 ur an idiot bro haha a full size car engine would never fit in a sprint car.. they are specially buit by a few elite engine builders... yes ford has made some but not many they are NOT the standard car engine

  • Sprint Cars. On the car that the flipping car rolled over, you can see intake ports in the hood. That would mean a V8 engined sprint car.

  • seriously: did he died?

  • sprints at the time this happened were running offys! (a four cyl.) others were running small block chevys they called them the offy killers(v8s)

  • its a fucking vintage midget

  • duh sprintcars have v8 engines and midgets have 4cylinder engines. the size and weight are vastly different they dont even look alike or sound alike.

  • that must have hert

  • ive seen worse!!!!!

  • im glad he lived.

  • omg!!!! did this guy survive?? i have grown up around racing since i was abt 3 weeks old...and i have nevr seen anything like this!

  • was he wearing a seatbelt?

  • i realli dont know cuz some dont some do cause i know 360 sprints do but idk good question..

  • did he survive

    \

  • yes

  • they are sprint cars and this is video from about the 60's

  • Later, sprints in the '60s had no cages.

  • thoes are migets not spritcars

  • migets are smaller than that they just dont have wings, they might even be older, or classics.

  • whats a miget or spritcar? I've heard of Midgets and Sprint Cars

  • @Swartzie6 midgets are much smaller, weigh around 900 lbs w/o the driver, and usually run 4 cyl engines on methanol. the average midget engine today puts out close to 400 hp, which makes them lightning quick considering their light weight. sprint cars weigh about 1500 lbs w/o driver, are bigger obviously, and usually run v8s on methanol. i think they put out between 600 and 900 hp depending on the division and motor size. whether the car has a wing or not doesnt really matter.

  • dude i was there

  • i remember this the guy when he fell out he died i remember.

  • not this wreck, he only had some bumps and bruises

  • does anyone know where this is? Looks like turns 3-4 at The Grove (Williams Grove) to me.

  • lol or had an ejector seat, :P

  • they always didn't have wings, 1905-1975 they had no wings, 1976-present they had wings, I am a HUGE sprint car nut, & it just common knowlage for me

  • Not all sprints have wings

  • yeah, I know, hell some even don't race with wings in a winged sprint race

  • insane

  • He was just showing off for the women!

  • Where was this? BTW HOLY CRAP!

  • no not fatal..... not even that bad of a crash

  • not that bad? are you fuckin high? the dude got ejected then got ran over by the sprint behind him.

  • was that fatal?!

  • that bad

  • got to love the advances in safety you practically never see that now a days... wish they ran sprints at the track near me on a regular basis... but big block 358 modifieds still just as interesting

  • modifieds blow.

  • holy wow! did the guy die??? I can't believe it threw him from the car.

  • He was quite badly injured, but didn't die.

  • My father died in a sprint car this exact way, in Austin Texas. But If you love what you doing then its worth the risk. Kudo's to all the Great Drivers! the ones who make it and the ones who don't.

  • 00:07 owtch lol

  • Ascot speedway.

  • good thing he WASNT wearing his seatbelt

  • actually he probably was since you cant even start your car without one... the seatbelts break dumbass ive had it happen. they either break or the bolt holding them breaks or the spot they are tied into breaks.

  • You dont need seatbelts to start a car. I broke during a feature took my belts and restraints off and there was a caution, my crew fixed the car and i didnt have time to do my belts and went out and finished the race. but yes everything else i agree with.

  • you my friend are trying to blow smoke up peoples ass's too! No One and I say No one with a half a brain would do this, and the fact that the officails would see you and not start the race, you are a idiot

  • Comment removed

  • hehehe, I could just imagine annalufzdale at a NEMA event mentioning how good the Sprint Car Racing is...

  • i went 2 1 of these and one went over the other in one compleat flip. i

  • where about is this Australia?

  • This is from Ascot Park, in Gardena, California (CRA Sprint Cars).

  • karter005, look in the atlas lol

  • that whold of hurt like hell

  • thats why drivers back then didnt just run over each other, cause they had a reason to be scared.

  • 5-point safety harness back then woulda helped probably....

  • seatbelts or what?????golden days

  • hay that is the good ol boy racing back in the day nice fine

  • run what ya brung!

  • sorry masta21 back in them days they didnt have them.. more hero's than idiots.

  • wut a idiot its called 5 piece seat belt..

  • Mike Sargent of San Jose, Caifornia had a flip like this back in the day at Caistoga Speedway

  • that's why you should wear a seatbelt

  • Early sprint cars and midgets were kind of hard to tell apart, considering that neither of them had wings at the time. Winged sprint cars didn't start to appear until the mid 1970s. However, these are definitely sprint cars. Most early midgets did not have roll cages as sprint cars, like the ones in this video did. Also, there are even some types of midgets that run wings, like NEMA and early ARDC, so you can't really base your definition of a sprint car on anything that has a wing.

  • this isnt even a friken sprintcar jeeze its a midget deeerrr!!!

  • BZZZZ sorry, try again.

This was a California Racing Assoc. (CRA Sprint Cars!) race at the great Ascot Park, in Gardena, CA. June 10th 1972, heat race action, John Kellar flips over Frank Burgin's car. While he was upside down, Kellar's hand hit the release on his seat belt quick release, and well, releasing him! He suffered only a broken pelvis, pretty amazing when you see the crash.

  • Guess you didn't hear the buzzer. You might want google non wing sprint cars (USAC/CRA) before you say something silly again

  • sprint cars have 8 cylinder engines and midgets have 4 cylinder engines... both run with and without wings although i think that this video pre-dates wings on either

  • haha arent u smart

  • Wow, you really don't know shit about about sprints and midgets. Just because it has or doesn't have a wing means nothing. Think before you open your mouth (or type in this instance).

  • @SoFasttv why does everyone think that just because the car doesnt have a wing on it that its a midget? midgets and sprints are two entirely different racecars...

  • @SoFasttv Yes I was there! but what happened was the driver slid down in his seat and the shoulder straps came loose and the the centrifugal force of the barrel roll ejected him out of the car, he was very lucky man.

  • @annalufzdale these are just old wingless sprints

  • @annalufzdale If you look closely you can see two header pipes, its a sprint car.

  • @annalufzdale its sprint cars from the 60s and 70s asswipe

  • That's nothing compared to Rod Jones' flip at Sharon Speedway last year. His sprint got (literally) torn right down the middle. Engine totally separated from the cockpit, about ten feet away. Stunningly, Rod walked away. (Search for it, it was heavily publicized)

  • that must've hurt

  • Wow, Your right Paulchandz. he did fly out! I wouldnt have caught that if you didnt mention it.

  • this guy fell out if you couldnt all ntice that... and he got run over by the other car that he flipped over, watch carefully

  • A Guy in the states actually fell through the top of the bars and the car floped on top of him, he survived.

  • thats y u wear a seatbelt

  • wat an awsome video i loved it i must ask were was that crash?

  • theres another sprintcar flip where the driver comes out somwhere , seen it on tv
