This show can't be from 1980. Looks like the 70s at most. Maybe it was set in 1980 (which is still a laugh).

@aculturemind -- The show began production in 1969 and aired in 1970 so, 1980 seemed like the far-out future. It aired in the US in '73, and already seemed both dated and naive about future technology. This dubbed clip is funny as the Japanese seem to think one has to explain every damn detail of the show.

this was one of the two best tv space shows ever. i love Space:1999 a little more. this one had a moonbase too and they went back and fourth to earth. Space:1999 the moon left earth orbit. Ed Bishop is from Brooklyn. Yeah, Gabrielle had a famous brother who was recording his first and most popular folk-rock album at the same time this show was beginning filming in '69.
