Yeah the Giovanni leave in is pretty creamy and thick; I typically use it for braid outs and when I'm air drying. But really a little goes a long way with the Giovanni leave in; at first I didn't like it either but when it got colder I went back to it and was like mm good stuff. :) Maybe you should try a liquid/spray leave-in; if you want to get into using leave ins. My hair likes creamy leave ins for braid outs and liquid leave ins for straight hair.
@musicluvsme18 I absolutely love the giovonni deep conditioner - it is now a permanent part of my conditioning collection! I'm not a fan of ANY leave ins...I just tried it for the new year! lol I don't like anything creamy in my hair...I gravitate to oils (coconut, grapeseed & olive).
@JNixAda77 Wow...19 years!!!! Certainly had me beat! I purchased gold & hot's new version and hated it! I returned it the next day and I love my new Caral dryer!
I love your videos BTW. I feel like I'm kicking in your home. I wanted to know if I condition and trim my hair. Will my hair keep grOwn if I just tie it up? Im sick of TWO STRAND TWISTS.
You mentioned you liked Keracare's conditioner, have you ever tried Humecto? It was my top conditioner for my hair when it was relaxed. It has cones, but it worked wonders on my tangles. It is a bit pricey but I still use it occasionally( i go through most of the bottle each time I use it). I am currently using Suave Professionals: Almond and Shea Butter shampoo & conditioner. It cost about $3.00 for a 32oz. bottle in Walmart and works really well
@ThickNCurly1 Girl I LOVE humecto!! l also end up using the whole bottle on my hair with just one use (maybe two). Target stopped selling Kera care conditioners about 6 months ago I noticed. Target was the only place I could buy Kera Care products for under $15. I think Amazon (which is were I will probably end up buying it) sells Kera Care for $21 plus shipping in handling - that SUCKS!! LOL
Coconut oil gives me life! I hove it as a pre-poo, hot oil treatment(1 of the only natural oils that can actually penetrated the hair shaft), to seal in moisture when I wear straight styles(its lighter than castor oil, which I love in winter months & with protective styles) I use it on my exzema in the summer months, I use it a a face moisturizer, I use it in my coconut cream hair relaxer/softener. I also use it enternally (promotes weight loss, only healthy saturated fat)
that coconut oil ain't nothin. some hair recipes call for coconut cream concentrate, i guarantee u will eat at least half of it! it's amazing! your hair just loves those cones! mine is hello hydration! add water to that gio or use every once in awhile to get a break from cones. better yet send it 2 me i've had no problems w/ it! hhj! u have beautiful hair by the way!
I know someone wrote to you that you use too much heat, but you know what? You're the only natural on YT that truly enjoys her hair and isn't afraid to cut when necessary. Plus, you really take care of it. Kudos to you!
PS i dont use the poo try elasta qp cream conditioning shampoo i retired my cream of nature after trying it it is sulfate free and give SO much slip you almost dont need conditioner 7 bucks for the liter and if you like my indian friends use coconut oil an as overnight treatment before shampooing and add a tea spoon to you con (put it in a cup or bowl) less grease and the leave in should be used on dripping wet hair i think it was too much oil to spread out you were right about rinsing the oil
hi you can sometimes get the giovanni products from marshalls for 12.99 for the LITER i go every other week to check an load up i also found that my hair LOVES the smooth as silk better as a leave in that the goivanni direct leave in the ingredients are natural so its cool and serves a double purpose i just as coconut oil to the cond (or olive oil) and sit under the dryer rinse the re apply the cond as a leave in
Can you please tell me wht hair product from krecare you use to use for dry scalp. I have always had dry scalp, but my hair holds onto oil.. thank you....
I love how you have great hair and you use average store brought products like gold and hot!!! Let's me know that you don't have to spend a fortune to have beautiful hair!!!
Girl!!!!!!!!!!! I love coconut oil. I usually leave it in after I deep condition. But I wanted to say, that I totally feel you on eating coconut oil! We've gone old school and make popcorn with it. I might be dating myself but back in the day at the movie theaters the kernels were popped in coconut oil-delicious! I'm lactose intolerant so I use coconut milk in my coffee. Coconuts are magical.
LOL!!!!! Your dryer. I love it. I am glad it wasn't a roller set. :) I have a gold n hot hood dryer that I have had for seven years. Thanks for the vid. Up to this point I thought a hot oil condish meant you had to heat the oil. Don't laugh.
LOL! yeah you were loyal to that dryer!!! LOL!!!! But I can't laugh too much because Im the same way with anything that I use because I will take care of it and use it to the motor in it goes dead! LOL!!!
True me...if that hose didn't break at the entrance of the dryer (as oppose to the middle) I would have duck taped that sucker up and keep it movin! LOL
Is there a difference in using a specific type of olive oil? There are a varieties of olive oil. Just asking. I have coconut oil. Coconut oil is good. I have heard alot of good health benefits for coconut oil.
Not sure if you got my message. But Happy New Year 2 u as well. Thank God and God bless you. Its another year and another year to move forward and change for the better. Look forward to seeing more of your great vids. :0)
that shampoo ust have been something like a clarifying shampoo. i dont like when my hair gets stripped like that. great video, i def want to try this coconut oil treatment
I use to use creme of nature shampoo religiously until I tried the Shea Moisture-Moisture Retention Shampoo (in the gold/yellow bottle)....it feels like conditioner in my hair and it's never dry or stripped after.....and keracare humecto is my favorite conditioner :)
Coconut oil is AWESOME, more than Olive oil because it has a higher heat tolerance (~450 deg i believe) and more protective and moisturizing properties so go with that since you flat iron your hair. Olive oil, after ~170 deg, breaks down so no longer protects your hair. It seriously is the best from heat and because of its small molecular size, it actually penetrates the hair shaft whereas olive oil doesn't cause it is too big. Happy New Year!!! Thank you for your videos!
U should eat a tablespoon of coconut oil daily, its great internally for ur hair and skin, as it is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and ant-viral and also helps cut appetite. Eating coconut oil daily is 1 of my 2012 resolutions, u can make cinnamon toast with it or put in fruit smoothies its delicious!
@Yakiniful a tablespoon...I wanted to eat the whole jar! LOL
I didn't know coconut oil had all thos benefits, but all long as consuming a tablespoon a day doesn't contribute to high cholesterol...I'd like to try taking it internally as well!
@SistaWithRealHair YES! IT IS!!! I'm not into coffee but I have a WHOLE TON of coconut and coconut oil recipes on my simply natural ideas blog lol. You would probably LOVE the coconut squares <3 Oh mercy they are TO DIE FOR!!!! LOLOLOL <3
I don't care for the Giovanni smooth as silk shampoo either but I do love the conditioner. You're right the original creme of nature was the only shampoo that i could detangle with while washing.
I've tried the conditioner (I ended up rewashing my hair- I put too much coconut oil in) and I LOOOOOVE the conditioner! I think I've found a new conditioners...its just that good!!
Your hair is gorgeous so continue to do what has worked for you for the last 10 years. I tried the whole sulfate free, natural shampoo thing and I didn't like it either. My regimen is similar to yours and my hair is thriving. I love your videos!!
@MrsHaseeb214 Sulfate/ sulfate free..who cares...as long as it gets my hair clean...you know? I never knew there was a difference until I joined youtube! lol
Happy New Year! FYI, as far as I know, you can take products (your shampoo) back to that store and return them even if you have used it. You must have your receipt.
@pamelabx I was thinking about doing that, but I used half the bottle just trying to get it to lather! Might be kinda ghetto to return half a bottle of shampoo, but I might try anyway! lol
I love the Giovanni Line. I told my best friend to get it--she hated it. Hahaha! Everybody's hair takes to that product differently (I wonder if it's about the protein).
YOU HAIR IS SO PRETTY! IM GONNA LOOK FOR THE COCONUT OIL TO DO A DEEP CONDITION ON MY HAIR! I HAVE JUST GOT IN THE ROUTINE OF WASH AND CONDITIONING EVERY WEEK. RIP TO YOUR DRYER! I LOVE GOLD N HOT! I HAVE A GOLD N HOT FLAT IRON (CERAMIC) THAT I HAVE HAD FOR 4 YEARS AND IT STILL WORKS AS IT DID ON DAY ONE! LOL
If you try the coconut oil, use very little...the stuff is very greasy and it keeps melting from my scap on to my face (can't stop my face from shining - I'm greasy)!
I'm planning to rinse my hair later tonight...my hair left BIG oil spot on my pillow last night! LOL
@simplyevanescent i KNOW right, i know i'm going to get a little flack for this lol but sometimes i use petroleum based products and the coconut oil for some strange reason breaks it down....the only reason that i can think of is maybe because coconut oil penetrates~....
I just decided to go natural myself I haven't had a perm since June and having eczema myself is the worse especially in my scalp so I know those hot oil treatments are VERY important and keep my hair nice and moisturized...I'm still trying to find the products that works best for me.
Yeah, that is strange. I have issues with my skin as well. I believe alot of this eczema and skin drying out also is due to what is in the water system such as Chlorine, fluoride and over time since our skin is our largest organ gets absorbed into our system and blood system. I have been going through it on and off over the years but the last few years its been good due to me using shea butter.
heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooo Sweetie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!!!.....my hair HATES coconut oil..it makes my hair tangle and my scalp sore and my hair falls out when i leave it in for more than 6 hours:(...if it's kept in briefly it's okay but long term and or often it's a no go...i'm glad to see you~
@Nickyloveslove Hmm, I think coconut oil does the same to me. I thought I was going crazy but I swear I lose more hair when I use coconut oil and my scalp becomes tender. Interesing. It does make my hair soft and and shiny though. Maybe I'll try Almond Oil. Darn.
I used WAY too much of it. I didn't rinse it out, but I took a damp towel and squeezed out some of the excess oil. I'm not sure what effects it will have on my hair (1st time using it in all) but so far, its ok, just REALLY greasy!
@SistaWithRealHair i get so excited when you make a video...you don't have to do any hair style because your hair curly is a Gorgeous style on it's own....when i first used coconut oil it was a lot as well...it was fine at first and then a couple days later my hair started to break..now if i leave it in over 6 hours or so i start to get sore and shed....the good thing is.they say coconut oil is one of the oils that penetrate into your hair shaft....i'm sad about your dryer~
@SistaWithRealHair .i TOTALLY agree with you as well i didn't like Giovani shampoo...i also didn't like the direct leave in....i use Pantene Moisture balance with the green top because it's so thick creamy and silky
@SistaWithRealHair lollllllllllllllll....i recently bought this product and spent 17.99 EACH for the diva one conditioner, gel and the spray and dislike them all...ughhhhh...i just have to stick with what works and leave the rest alone lolllllll
@SistaWithRealHair YES U WERE I HAD ALREASY DID A CHOP BACK IN AUG AND I WAS LIKE I CANT DEAL WITH THIS MESS I WAS ON THE VERGE OF A PERM NOT LONG AGO AND THEN STARTED WATCHING U I HAD TO TELL MYSELF NO LOL I JUST NEED TO FIND WHAT PRODUCTS WORK WELL FOR ME I HAVE REAL WAVY SCARY SPICE HAIR LMAO
Nooo...don't give up! Keep shopping around until you find a product/products that work well with your natural hair. Since I'm on this "NO FLATIRONING" challenge, I'm planning to try all types of products as a distraction from straightening my hair! lol
I usually sit under the dryer 30-40 minutes.

@simplyevanescent i KNOW right, i know i'm going to get a little flack for this lol but sometimes i use petroleum based products and the coconut oil for some strange reason breaks it down....the only reason that i can think of is maybe because coconut oil penetrates~....

Be careful using the ful giovanni line, because everything on that line has protein in it

I wasn't too happy with the shampoo, but I haven't had a chance to use the conditioner yet! I'll try it next month.

I just decided to go natural myself I haven't had a perm since June and having eczema myself is the worse especially in my scalp so I know those hot oil treatments are VERY important and keep my hair nice and moisturized...I'm still trying to find the products that works best for me.

I've had eczema all my life, but never in my scalp until this year (strange), but YES my scalp looooves the hot oil treatments!
SistaWithRealHair 1 month ago
@SistaWithRealHair

Happy New Year!!!!!!!.....my hair HATES coconut oil..it makes my hair tangle and my scalp sore and my hair falls out when i leave it in for more than 6 hours:(...if it's kept in briefly it's okay but long term and or often it's a no go...i'm glad to see you~
Nickyloveslove 1 month ago
@Nickyloveslove Hmm, I think coconut oil does the same to me. I thought I was going crazy but I swear I lose more hair when I use coconut oil and my scalp becomes tender. Interesing. It does make my hair soft and and shiny though. Maybe I'll try Almond Oil. Darn.

@ktf111111
I also heard to be careful not too use too much coconut oil. Check into that.
iamaksd 1 month ago
@Nickyloveslove
I used WAY too much of it. I didn't rinse it out, but I took a damp towel and squeezed out some of the excess oil. I'm not sure what effects it will have on my hair (1st time using it in all) but so far, its ok, just REALLY greasy!
SistaWithRealHair 1 month ago
@SistaWithRealHair i get so excited when you make a video...you don't have to do any hair style because your hair curly is a Gorgeous style on it's own....when i first used coconut oil it was a lot as well...it was fine at first and then a couple days later my hair started to break..now if i leave it in over 6 hours or so i start to get sore and shed....the good thing is.they say coconut oil is one of the oils that penetrate into your hair shaft....i'm sad about your dryer~
Nickyloveslove 1 month ago
@SistaWithRealHair .i TOTALLY agree with you as well i didn't like Giovani shampoo...i also didn't like the direct leave in....i use Pantene Moisture balance with the green top because it's so thick creamy and silky
Nickyloveslove 1 month ago
@Nickyloveslove
I actually didn't like the leave in either! I would return them, only I used half the bottle of shampoo already! lol

@SistaWithRealHair lollllllllllllllll....i recently bought this product and spent 17.99 EACH for the diva one conditioner, gel and the spray and dislike them all...ughhhhh...i just have to stick with what works and leave the rest alone lolllllll
Nickyloveslove 1 month ago
@Nickyloveslove I though I was the only one this happens to. I think I'm allergic to coconut oil so I stopped using it completely.
