I will also add that an interesting phenomenon that we have seen in the US with radio stations designed to appeal to nostalgic Gen-Xers is that every now and then, songs that were not big chart successes in their day but that were pushed heavily on university radio stations or by certain shows on MTV are treated as if they had been hits.
I assume that this video was put together from a British perspective. I grew up in the US, and when I became aware that the British had their own top-40 chart, I was surprised by how different it could be.
In my recollection, the songs from this list that were big charting hits in the USA were:
@klafong1 I think the uploader means nowadays they're sorta forgotten, says in the discription they don't get the airplay others do, not necissarily didn't when they first came out. alot were big charting hits here in britain aswell. we also have radio stations that play nostalgic music, have request from listeners ect.
99 red balloons is hardly forgotten, every single 80's compilation you will ever have has it. A lot of the other stuff there... well i can see why it was 'forgotten'... hehe.
I love this music so much. Now music is become less good then before and this is one of the only musicians that are still awesome!!! If you want to hear the top 100 of the 80's look at my channel for the videos.
Please thumb this up so other can see this and hopefully watch the video with joy.
safety dance, 99 red balloons, i want candy, centerfold, the heat is on, breakout, rhythm of the night, mickey and waiting for a star to fall, all get a lot of air time on a station in my home town of Roanoke VA. its called STEVE FM. and Q-99 FM. also plays a few of these. i do remember the "19" song, but haven't heard it in forever. as for the others i don't think iv'e ever heard any of them and i am a child of the 80's. or so i thought...lol... good list though.
