  • "Yeah, alright!" :p

    Thanks for the licks man!

  • Marty's funny... calls it the... 'Tasty' Zone. Plays well and has some Funky 'Lil what I call... Chicky-Chicky Licks, he just Chicky Chicky's the high strings with some reverb and souds nice, he's fun to watch teach.... has some nice hats too.

  • never brag about metal when your talking about blues, they are different concepts.."shredding" or a "shredder" only focuses on rapid picking...if you don't know how to play blues, you haven't yet learned and understand guitar music...

  • 5:40 smoke on the water :)

  • we know what an octave is ;)

  • YEA!

  • guy is a good player and instructor. But kind of a douche in my opinion

  • @BW9191 you're kind of a douche in my opinion.

  • This stuff fore sure sounds like the solo in Sympathy for the devil

  • wow excellent man thanks for a clear concise paitient instructive lesson im excited to learn more fah ! out you very good teacher thanx

  • great video, man !!! cheers!!

  • very nice way to teach . An excellent video!

  • I like metal and blues but I like to let my dog poop on Satan. O_O

  • ahhh gotta LOVE those blues snobs who talk about metal as if they understand anything..and i'm a 100 percent sure tropsi is a big fat lie.. if you truly are a shredder you KNOW how useful and important blues is by default..he just desperately wanted thumbs ups form those sad blues snobs....heh..oh well these are just my two cents..

  • @arcainjust wait, preferring blues to metal is snobbery? All Tropsi did was state his opinion. Maybe it's you who's the snob.

  • @fragman08 when people state their opinion other people will state their opposing opinion as well i do not think that preferring a genre over another is snobbery i think calling another genre inherently inferior as a form of expression snobbery.

  • @acainjust I see metal as something that's fun and has some cool runs, I don't think it's anything like blues which is raw expression and emotion. If that makes me a snob I guess I am then.

  • @arcainjust Blues purists have made their ignorance into an art form. Most of them know 2.5 patterns of the pentatonic and they think they unlocked the secrets of the universe. They think blues has soul, classical is souless, slow playing is good, fast is bad etc etc...even the word "shredder" is derived from their own insecurities and the failing to understand that some people actually want to make their guitar to wail...not just cry....

  • thanks alot!! :D

  • spank it!

  • you can play both metal and blues with feeling, dont be elitist

  • Yes mate

    Twas excellent!!

  • I'm not really into blues, actually I prefer metal.

But I got to say I fell in love with thos blues-like solos in metal, and blues is also very fun to play :)

  • which is/are the best chords for the rhitym guitar?

  • Thanks again for going slow for us beginners - great job!

  • I find it funny that he makes an 11 minute video for something he could have explained in 3 minutes tops.

  • @mattdd05 NO DOUBT!!!!!

  • @mattdd05

he's usually baked. cut a brother some slack.

  • @Beekay2002 Well that might explain why he takes so long to explain simple things. That's why being a guitarist is so amazing its the kinda of job that you do better when your high. (Except explaining what your doing will be a problem.)

  • @mattdd05 For beginners need concentration while playing guitars and being high makes things worse for the neighbours too :)

  • thank you from france you'r fantastique and i learn very well.

  • Verry nice lick man and good lessons, where can I get that tasty backing track?

  • please every1 subscribe 2 me!!! :D

  • phearsk8, now I understand what you are. I will just pretend you don't exsist. Small minds should be quiet. You tell everyone what you are.

  • @papa62old

Oh, don't worry, he is just retarded :(

  • sorry about the repeats. my computer is screwing up. but he is doing a great job. Keep it up Marty

  • I guess you just want to put the guy down. If you all ready know this stuff then you should be watching something else. He is teaching the beginner not some one that can all ready play. Duh! He does a great job teaching.

  • I guess you just want to put the guy down. If you all ready know this stuff then you should be watching something else. he is teaching the beginner not some one that can all ready play. Duh! hE IS A GOOD TEACHER.

  • those are the notes in the gravity riff by john mayer!!! love that song...great lesson marty!!

  • shut up you guys he is teaching us to spank it!

  • 09:35 LOL

  • i switched from metal to blues, its much harder than shredding but its also much cooler than metal =)

  • @tropsi007 I, myself, switch to metal to blues too. For the same reason ;)

  • @guitarplayer818 i think everybody does eventually:)

  • @tropsi007 When playing blues, you don't need to know just what notes are you playing, but you also need to know why are you playing them.

  • @tropsi007 Cuz you can't play metal with much feeling.

  • @SuperHarvestMan - I think everyone misunderstands when a Blues Musician says it's harder to play, I've been playing blues all my life and learned several other styles, they are all Technically more difficult to play than blues, but blues isn't about being technical, sure it's bound by simple rules. It's like comparing a soul singer to a shred guitarist....two different things.....blues is just the same thing with less theory.....

  • @sincityblues85 I hear what you're saying, but no I definitely didn't misunderstand. I was the same way; I started off with metal and I sucked at it, and realized it was much more economical for me to start playing blues/rock, before I moved onto metal. At that time, I was like "fuck metal, blues is way better and harder"...but now that I've been playing for close to a decade, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Metal is harder, because with good metal, you still have the soul in the song.

  • @SuperHarvestMan

    Who cares?!

  • @tropsi007 coolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • @tropsi007 THANK GOD I Love metal but as a guitarist its all about the blues no doubt funnest style to play

  • @tropsi007 try shrdding blues scales it sound amazing

  • @tropsi007 that always happens!! i know a lot of people who started in metal but then moved to different things!! i still like metal though, i dont think ill ever stop listening to metal

  • @tropsi007 I did too.

  • ha g-string!!!!!!!

  • SUPER!!!

  • 3:45.5

  • like in little wing , tin pan alley or lenny

  • very very nice... i know that SRV uses little licks like these but when i watch videos it looks like hes doing it in the pentatonic box. maybe im wrong

  • nice man is really cool

  • Thank you so much, I have heard this lick a lot in some songs, and now i know how to play it sort of.

  • Nice thought provoking lesson

  • I love seeing stuff like this... LOL helps me break out of my little pentatonic box (comfort zone) a bit. It's amazing how I tried this for a bit over my lame E-Blues jam tracks... and evolved! I love his lessons! ♫♪

  • Very Cool Lick. Reminds me of Lalo Schifrin's Bullitt Theme Music.

  • He's playing a Heritage 535, almond sunburst finish. Nice.

  • Heritage 535, almond sunburst finish.

  • Finding this lick hard but getting to grips with it thanks again Marty.

    Jorge.

  • Ok. . I got to say. you are the best teacher I have seen on You Tube. . very patient and you lay it all out well. And you do not over talk the lesson. What is your guitar? I love it, but cannot tell if it is an Aria or a Heritage or? Thanks for a great lesson. . . all us Blues guys would do well to add some jazz into the mix.

  • this guy is f n awsem

  • i believe i may own that same amp

  • does he remind any of you of Johan Hill outta Superbad?

  • Hi, guys. His doing some kind of pull off and hammer... I finding it hard to learn it. Can anyone give me a good lesson where they explain this... Thnks.

  • i hate that we miss the best parts of him playing when there advertising shit at the beginning..

  • haha jk..

  • i started to really like this lick until he played that blues stand alone greatness and then i just learned that .. better than his riff imo

  • if u like this u would like wes montgomery...he uses alot of double octave stuff

  • Comment removed

  • i really want to learn more the jazz/blues stuff combined , does anyone know any pianist or guitarist that plays those kind of stuff ?? thanks

  • is it cheating to hit my octave pedal?? great lesson olve the jazz blues stuff it makes my blues sound more "authentic"

  • there's no cheating in music unless you record it and pretend you played it... like lip syncing...
