hey guys, fans of Doc Watson should definitely check out Kent Gustavson's new book, "Blind But Now I See, The Biography of Music Legend Doc Watson " @ his Facebook page, "Doc Watson Book".
"she moves along like a cannon ball"--------Woohoo -Two of the greatest pickers the world has ever seen. And they happen to be great friends too. North Carolina has reason to be proud of these two.
Doc is refered to as a "National Treasure", and it's true. I also have this album. It's pretty scratchy from being played so many times since I bought it new so many years ago. Great pictures! Some I have not seen before. Thanks!!
@emilylikestorawr i hope you realize how lucky you are to be able to say that you are related to Doc. i got to meet him two weeks ago up here Boone and he showed me the pocketwatch that belonged to merle, Doc is one of the most humble people i have ever met...awesome guy.
There are many great flatpickers but none as good as Doc in my opinion. He was the innovator and inspiration to many of those players and that is what makes him the best.Tthere will never be another like him......
This is from the LP "Earl Scruggs Family and Friends" and I think is the best rendition of this song EVER. The fill licks Doc adds are just unreal and clipping along crystal clear and smooth as silk at about 130 BMP!
Doc will never be equalled. There are many great flatpickers (Steve Kaufman, Dan Crary etc.) but in my opinion, none get the crisp, clean sound from a guitar note that Doc does. Hope he lives to play another 90 years.
My Dad bought me the LP this song is on when I was a kid. I think you can hear some of the album pops in the recording. Still one of my favorite songs ever.
Is he still alive i hope so i wanna see him play guitar in real!!! :D

I know Doc's known for his pickin' but I love the sound of his voice. Not many got that mountain grandpa sound anymore.
