Hey Kyle, just wondering, but would you like a flutist to cover this possibly? I'd really love to as I have yet to put any videos on youtube of my playing!
It sounds kind of nostalgic to me ... though in parts it also sounds fresh as it could reflect the feeling that one experiences in summer or something ... Great
I enjoyed this one. It was certainly out there tonally, but not too much for me to latch on. I thought of the Jungle Book and Zelda dungeons/fighting. There were SO many images happening with this piece. Thumbs up for sure.
@FreackZz Piano part isn't so bad, it's all idiomatic arpeggios, played with both hands. Flute part is actually rather demanding near the end, but I supposed you're right... lol
Hm, reminds me of late Romantic stuff...the overall "atmosphere" for a lack of better words, I guess!
Interesting composition though. Although it is a flute sonata, why not try adding sections for piano only? Like little interludes so the flute isn't constantly playing. (For instance, 3:00 or something.) That's just my two cents though, since I know nothing about composition, heh :P
honestly its a surreal piece so the uneasy feeling and initial "dislike" for it is common. Its something different and exotic. Honestly reminds me of something from LOTR or like a Shakespearean play.
not my cup of tea. i can see this analytically as a good piece of music, but the piano part is all runs and no substance. im not quite sure of the mood that you wanted to achieve as i cant follow a direct melody long enough to feel it. although i do have questions
do you reccomend garritan?
what sort of playing do you do? (ie in a band, or with other players) namely what instruments do you have experience with?
Could you make a playlist of your improvisations and perhaps a playlist of your favorite pieces that you've played, or a couple of them anyway, and put it on your channel? I think that It would be amazingly helpful for your viewers.
always impressive kyle, coincidently at the same time you were prolly uploading this my g/f was playing the flute too, not really a sonata more in a squeal tone
@kylelandry wow, it's really impressive how you can do that. I've been playing the piano for 9 years and I can't even imagine me trying to do that. well done (:
Anyone else finding this picture somewhat disturbing? I mean,it rather irritates me than it does calming me Oo...cuz that rock thing lays on something that's not in synch with the other water and also has another surface colour and form you know XD
This is absolutely beautiful, and, being a flutist myself, would have loved to play this piece when I was in orchestra. You did a fantastic job composing this piece, and this is definitely better quality than the midi you posted before :). Keep up the great work!
Honestly I do not hate this piece you did but I don't understand it as I would when you play the Disney songs or something else more on the mellow side. I definitely hear the talent but can't put myself in sync with it. It is not just this piece but other complicated pieces like Franz Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 or Flight of the Bumblebee.
@mquettawala Hmm, well I started it one night and got the beginning material finished, then I let it sit for months and got back into it and finished it about 2 more months.
Have you gotten anyone to perform this by any chance? Would be interesting to see!

All of your pieces are outstandingly beautiful. I aspire to compose such things as you one day.

Kyle, did you get inspired by "Kapustin - Divertisment for Two Flutes, Cello and Piano mov.1 (Op.91)" ?

Some of your themes happen to remind me of Rachmaninoff's 4th Concerto. That's quite a compliment =]

sounds more technically challenging for the piano than the flute hahaha XD kyle style i guess that is.
