Wow I love Daft Punk but this just makes me wonder why they spend so much time in studio if most of it is not original work? In some cases you couldn't even call it a House remix or name is Daft Punk remix. Wow... I'll still love Daft Punk but man kinda makes you wonder...
whatever your opinion on Daft Punk is it is highly invalid. Daft Punk did more than just use samples and create good music. Which btw every single artist on this planet does this. and many people sample Daft Punk as well. But Daft Punk are top music pioneers. They brought electronic music or "techno" to the mainstream. They popularized new ideas, such as the synthesizer and an invention called auto-tune (one more time). They will stand the test of time and mostly every DJ ever respects them.
@xXxJustForFunxXx95 I appreciate your comment, but autotune was used also by Eiffel 65 back in the 90's. Blue (da ba dee) is from 1999, One more time from 2001.
well, its just my view but i think they made the songs better and besides they only used little noises to make a whole song you have to admit thats good
Soooo basically we've found out that daft punk have a love of great music, they're awesome dj's and they're great producers and mixers...now all you haters, go get your own samples rmix them and re produce and make a multi platinum selling cd eldictador1
some sound almost unrecognizable compared to the originals and others sound almost exactly the same. at least daft punk is able to take parts from a song and make it into something entirely different
Strangely, I've listened to I'm not in Love so many times when playing GTA and yet when I listed to the Discovery album I didn't even realized that Daft Punk recreated that song in they're song "Nightlife". Surprised 0.0
I think I figured out the sample for "Voyager". It's Al Jarreau's "Love Speaks Louder Than Words" from his 1984 album "High Crime". I used to listen to that LP back in the 80s. I knew the chords in "Voyager" sounded familiar but I couldn't place 'em 'til tonight.
Though it irritates me that daft punk sampled so many artists without credit (and rightful compensation) at least they have good musical taste.
ahah! just now i was hearing im not in love by 10cc and i thought... this reminds me a daft punk track... what was its name? night vision? so i came here and BAM! bwahaahaha thats how much of a fan i am, bitchezzz!
Discovery and homework were my favs, now it's only a few songs from Discovery, a few from Human after all, all from Homework, all from Alive 2007, 1 from the Tron album, and all from the Daft Club album. Daft Punk, your fans miss you. Your public misses you from the bottom if our hearts! We grew up with you! Please for the love of god make more music! You French robot bastards!!!! :)
So why were people mad at Kanye sampling harder, better, faster, stronger when they had used many samples theirselves? Lol hypocrisy much? But I'm a fan of both so it's cool.
@bahsilgordon I think its because all the kanye west fans now knew that song and think kanye made it up. And then people just dont like kanye, but are Daft Punk fans. But whatever I mean they allowed him to use it so its all cool. Kanye doesnt have bad songs i like a couple.
You used the wrong version of Get Down Saturday Night. It's the one they put on Discovered, but that album has a lot of problems. The version in GTA: Vice City has a much clearer sample that was definitely the one they used. (The Discovered album also uses a remix of the Music Sounds Better With You-sampled-song that doesn't actually have the sample, so I really don't trust it for much).
@maxiandroll no tiene sample! Se dice que viene de una cancion de Ben Harper, pero es erroneo, ya que este hombre y Daft Punk utilizaron el mismo sintetizador de beats
@MrLechugo with michael greys the weekend were they before this album or after because listen to that and tbh i think it sounds a lot more like it than that?
In your opinion, why do you think Daft Punk never gave credit to tavares for High Life, The Imperials for Crescendolls and Eddie Johns for One More Time on the official Discovery track listing? Bangalter denied it several times but it's been proven over and over that ithey were in fact sampled. thanks for you input.
@artha5 check the Discovery wikipedia page. They didn't credit quite a few people, quite a feat, since they sampled so heavily for that album. any ideas?
i love these videos because they give some of the respect that's due to the originators of these wicked bass lines/ licks that helped make daft punk popular, course i respect daft punk for bringing these disco beats and mixing them to create something truly unique :)
@kakjetak111 why? they made good music and turned it into greater music. They mainly just used beats and tiny parts of songs. Other than like crecendolls which is like the same haha.
@kakjetak111 Don't be, much of what they do is like a homage to the 70's-80's disco/funk era, that's why many french house dj's where called "new disco" or something like that. And the beautifult thing they do is reinterpret these songs in an original, creative and fun way imo, there's nothing to discredit about that
can I just say that samples they may be, they are great samples. simply because it is incredibly hard to tell where some of them came from. not just taking a sample and putting a song on it they actually tweaked and changed them maybe will i am should take a thing of two from them.
@ducksgomooful It may be hard to detect the resemblance just by listening to the lyrics. I actually heard it through the trumpet/horn parts, which is virtually the same in both versions.
@ducksgomooful lol i do know wat u mean with that track especially as they speeded it up and then spliced it! the actual sample occurs earlier on in the original track and not the chorus which u heard here! its a part of the vocal where he says ''survive''. when speeded up it sounds like ''hiiiiiiigh life''
A mi la verdad no me importa de donde salieron todas estas canciones ami lo que en verdad me facina son las rolas de DAFT PUNK grandes exponentes de la musica !!!! Desde MEXICO D.F. ATTE: MAKO
I think that all the short vocals in "Face to Face" (except for the robotic "dance" vocal) are from "Evil Woman" too, just like the guitar parts. They sound very, very close to Jeff Lynne's singing parts from that song, and, I also think, they are cleverly chopped and pasted together. The high voice that sounds like singing "with me", might also be from "Evil Woman" (comming from the part where Lynne sings the title track in falsetto).
@tommylee1990 you know that most of those I've posted are proven themselves even affirmed by Thomas and Guy-Man? Some are safe, some may be possible, and others only interpolations, is in the view and hearing of each.
@klasbreak112 dude, if you finish the video, the final say Nightvision Something About Us and may not have samples or that I have not figured out, if you look in the description of this video, I made a link to another video that I just made on samples Discovery, trying to be all. To my knowledge, this video did not say at any time that is the complete collection of the samples xDD
@arpegius78 The jerky guitar sounds the same, even if you lower the speed to the tune of Voyager, it sounds like a tune Something About Us, Daft Punk but officially said that the song used to create Voyager was the Get Down Saturday Night. There are many theories about the samples of Something About Us, but I have not wanted to risk, thank you very much for the information and if you get ma information, please let me know.
@xolemonlime2 search: "Discovered: A Collection Of Daft Punk Samples" and watch the list of songs. Bangalter may compose the melody of the guitar, but the # rhythm is from Sister Sledge, or maybe he apply a guitar effect to the melody of the sample. Search in youtube " Daft Punk - Aerodynamic MicroKorg Tutorial "

@GorillaGone i prefer the Superheroes sample. From a phrase of Barry Manilow, they could get a rhythm, even dance! xDD
MrLechugo 1 year ago
But, they basically remixed music, so technically it's slighty original.

Daft Punk is still awesome!!!!!!!!!!

tommylee1990 1 year ago
@tommylee1990 you know that most of those I've posted are proven themselves even affirmed by Thomas and Guy-Man? Some are safe, some may be possible, and others only interpolations, is in the view and hearing of each.

at least daft punk aint like jay-z where as he steals lines
tonyman148 1 year ago
Still, you can't say Daft Punk sucks just because of samples, as they create completely different musics out of those.
Jeffrey3527 1 year ago
@Jeffrey3527 When I say I Daft Punk sucks? But I'm a big fan of this duo! Is that you haven't seen my other videos? xDD
MrLechugo 1 year ago
@MrLechugo Sorry, it wasn't intended to offend you, but for anyone that might say they suck for "stealing samples". Good thing you didn't get mad :D
Jeffrey3527 1 year ago
@Jeffrey3527 Ah, I'm not pissed off man! Only that I was strange comment xDDD

@snowdjagha not a sample, is a interpolation
MrLechugo 1 year ago
@snowdjagha oh... ok. now i see the resemblance in that pumping synth and that lead synth in the background.

I feel like nightvision sounds pretty much like "i'm not in love" from 10cc but I don't know, can anyone confirm this?

MrLechugo you'f forgot " somthing about us' . so my conclusion is that this aren'd all samples of daft punk's CD discovery
klasbreak112 1 year ago
@klasbreak112 dude, if you finish the video, the final say Nightvision Something About Us and may not have samples or that I have not figured out, if you look in the description of this video, I made a link to another video that I just made on samples Discovery, trying to be all. To my knowledge, this video did not say at any time that is the complete collection of the samples xDD
MrLechugo 1 year ago
@wallonz1n is not a sample...is just apreview of the discovery album...alive 1997 was recorded in 2001 and discovery 2002

I think the sample from "Get Down Saturday Night" is used in "Something About Us", not in "Voyager". We can easily reconize the jerky guitar.

@wallonz1n the sample from Alive 1997, is a primitive short circuit, i think xDDD

The Daft Punk Short Circuit may also be just a re-mixed version of one of the synths in Da Funk that starts 1:17 s into the song
Z11IAM 1 year ago
uhm, short circuit was already a single in 97
they used it in their Daftendirekt tour in 1997

I don't think that aerodynamic was sampled. thomas bangalter said that he played the song himself.
xolemonlime2 1 year ago
@xolemonlime2 search: "Discovered: A Collection Of Daft Punk Samples" and watch the list of songs. Bangalter may compose the melody of the guitar, but the # rhythm is from Sister Sledge, or maybe he apply a guitar effect to the melody of the sample. Search in youtube " Daft Punk - Aerodynamic MicroKorg Tutorial "
