I spent the first 20 years of my life in a 3rd-world country where crime was a serious problem, and I have been a victim up to and throughout my high-school years. "Fool me once, shame on...can't get fooled again" ("W" said so!)
Old habits die hard even here in the U.S. Plus, I am close to the border with Tijuana, MX and my neighborhood is not exactly the safest. Better safe than sorry, one never knows!
@1nvrknws Makes sense to me - I have a knife in almost every drawer in my room :) And you have non-lethal alternatives as well - so you can send the baddies home with just a limp this time - safe travels!
It's overkill, I know! But it depends on the time of day and my purpose for leaving the house. This is only my EDC on a dark, evening walk by myself (few streetlamps around) in a relatively shady and ghostly neighborhood. During the day, depending on clothing, I would only go 1 or 2 layers deep on knives, lights, and mace, and leave the Taser home. E.g., to the gym I only take my house keys with the spyderco cricket and, say, the spyderhawk.
When you go on a walk you are one serious man with a mission!
