  • Whatever the word Hmong mean...that is not important to us but what is important to us is to remember that the word Hmong must mean something by our ancestors or our creators. That is why we kept it until today. Hmong chinese in general still call themselves Hmong too. They only identify themselves as Miao when they went to the city but they call themselves Hmong when they go back to the village.

  • is it really true hmong is miao or it's way different jw!!!!

  • @MaiPaKou

    Hmong are Miao.

  • toj roob hauv pes zoo nkauj heev nice video thanks!!!!!!

  • Niamtxiv, who do you believe to be the very first hmong to the very root in all of hmong? (gho xong, hmu, hmong?)

  • @followme2ne1

    we are.....

  • @niamtxiv Really? I guess so. I was just wondering because there are so many different varieties of hmong in china.

  • @followme2ne1, if you look at Genetically then some of the oldest Y and W dna links to the Daxi, and certian group of Tibetian. But if you look at terms of names like Hmong meaning Free People, the Biblical calll these group of people "Horites, Free People" in the old testament. To European it is knowing as The Hittite, which can be trace to Hurrians which could be trace to people of the Garden of Adam and Eve. Both myth and genetics are unreliable due to changes in multation and chages in myth.

  • I believe that the cloest to us is the Horites, knowing to rule the Anotolia Kingdom. They have the same agricultural, marriage system, clothing and lives styles. They're the one who once rule the minor Asia of Anotolia the third powerful kingdom during the its time. They're the only and last group to workship the god of the bull carried by Txivyawg in my own personal statement. The God of the bull in Sumerian text knowing as Enlil, not because he's a bull but born in the year of the bull.

  • @Opetlao

No. Hmong does not mean "free people." Hmong means "sons of soil." Miao means "ntsoj tsuag plej liaj teb."

  • @niamtxiv

this is the new version of meaning the word "miao". The original meaning of the word "miao" meaning barbarian. Later...they change the meaning to "grass"...meaning that they try to elimiate the Hmong race but they cannot as we do our farm...we try to elininate every grass from our farm but grass continue to grow. I do not believe that the word Hmong mean free either. thanks bro

  • @niamtxiv i disagree.. Hmong does not mean "sons of soil".

  • @nkaujsua09

You seriously haven't done your homework.

  • I wonder if one day we Hmong will be able to United again, may that day come soon.

  • @Opetlao

it has started already. it's time to educate, that's the next step.

  • @niamtxiv This is the sparks, i don't think we have started yet.

  • @Opetlao

In China, all the different Miao groups, who all speak different languages have been united and attending annual events. It's just the overseas Miao aka Hmong, who need to educate themselves about their roots and people.... our people are very diverse. :)

  • @Opetlao we can sure do it. but we must have more participants. especially our younger generation

  • niamtxiv, your cool! you've been to China before right? we should all get together and do some fund raising for those who are seriously interested in Hmong history and culture to have a tour in China.

  • @mysteryv

tsis tau. yes, it would be nice to hav ea fund raising for those who are interested in the Hmong history and culture. Would be nice to have a sponsor or organization to do that for many of us. :-) ua tsaug

  • @niamtxiv that's interesting that you mentioned that...i've always wonder why big Hmong councils in the US don't sponsor such studies especially with the money they garner from events... if it doesn't happen, hopefully in a couple of years from now I'll start my own sponsorship (got to get through school first, two more years)... just to share a though and something to see if there's people who are interested...

  • Hey, isn't Yang Geli a central Miao.?. but they call themselves Pawm or something like that. He said in his interviews. Too many factions. Which Miao group exactly are the ones that wear those silver crowns with them water buffalo horns? thank you ahead.

  • @mysteryv

Yes, Yang Geli is a central Miao. Pawm is a subgroup of the central Miao.

  • @mysteryv i believe the ones that you see wear it often are the ones that are call Hmub...
