  • some great inforamtion here thanks

  • Where does the water and pressure come from?

  • Hey, what about winter? Do you get snow and cold there? Is it working during winter??

  • cool , thanks for posting

  • could i run a ram pump to a tank and then use tank pressure to turn a turbine for electric?

  • Been studying hydro power since the 70's. I owned 2 hydro dams. Thanks for the videos. I have a few also.

  • nice video

  • good search man

  • good job man!

  • Nice set up ya got there!

  • Great unit and some good old country livin,I luv it

  • ...wonderful!... ... .

  • How do you handle the expansion and contraction of the pipe do to weather conditions?

  • is your house in amazon j

    ungle?

  • Awesome video.

  • Will the pipe freeze in winter?

  • nice alternative idea

  • FANTASTIC!!! You are Great! Made in the U.S.A. !!! God Bless You and Yours!!

  • Nice unit! 8P

  • this is really cool...but then you need some land, a home in the country and of course a constant stream...

  • Country folk can survive!

  • I'm from Oregon too, just a ways outta Springfield. This would be a good system except our property sits quite a bit higher than the stream. However, are there any mini-units available? I've thought of seeing if I can get smaller versions of this one & build them into my house's raingutter system. We get rain here at least 8 months straight, and plenty of it at that, so it'd be a good year-round system.

  • @cripin2021 with a big enough tank holding the water off your house you should be able to run a system for a very long time

  • @simontimon2 I think a solution to avoid blending little creatures is to divert water into a channel over a somewhat low speed/non-sharp waterwheel, then return the water to its source freshly oxygenated. Happy pods and fish!

  • Jesus is coming soon! repent and prepare for the lord

  • What happens in winter when temps go well below freezing (example: Minnesota) - any suggestions? I think this is really great BTW- thanks for sharing.

  • WATERWILL!!

  • Cont... They even Charge you of your Systems Yearly water usage (Not much)

    - There also a heavy fine too if you stop the stream completely or Reduce its flow below 10% of normal flow

    - Even Jail time if you kill off protected plants & animals that live in / around the stream aria effected by your set-up

  • @hitechguy18 .... and all that is to protect BP and other oil companies from loosing a few cents of profit!

  • Here in the UK You must get a permit to Dam Streams For Micro Hydro Setups

Even Do an Environmental impact survey [Effect on the part of the Stream where its going to get reduced water flow - effect on plaints and wildlife / Oil Contamination impact]

    ... Cont

  • Thanks for this video.

  • I like it a lot :-)

  • Bravo

  • What could I do if I had a 5000 gal water collection and storage tank on my roof over my head about 15 -20 ft?

  • @early2it ... you could call a roofer to rebuild your roof, figure 5000 gls is around 40,000lbs it's heavy & will collapses the roof

  • @Warsrogue Over my roof not my roof. Its a water tower tank collection like thing someone built basically a 5000 gal tank from a truck sitting on a hill about 15 to 20 ft higher than my roof.

I would really like to know how much continuous water flow I would need to get about 10 kil wat. There is about a five acre pond with a 45 ft levy that has a stream that feeds it year round and I've often thought that there was enough power in that water flow to give me free electricity.

  • @early2it here you go: P=Q*h*7kM/m3 So if you have a constant water level and therefore a fall hight of of 45 feet (vertical = about 15 meters) the equation would be 0.1 cubic meter water (27 US gal.) per second multiplied with 15 (meters) multiplied with 7 (gravitational equation) would bring about 10.1 kW/h

  • @valentin61 Thank you friend for that good answer

  • Where are you getting the water pressure from? You mentioned wasting water which leads me to believe that those pipes are fed by a commercial utility system.

  • @sergeantRC Really?! No utilities here. I'll make you a deal. We'll mount some 2 inch schedule 40 pvc to the side of a ten story building with a shutoff valve and a reduction to 1/2 inch @ the bottom. I'll go to the top and fill it with water and you put your face in front of it and turn the shutoff to open. Then you can tell us how much pressure it has. My example takes run out of the equation but I am confident it would still have more pressure than you wanted.

  • @sergeantRC I caught the "wasting water" comment too, but he states clearly in the video that the water source is a stream. The pressure comes from the HEIGHT above the generator (head) as well as the restricting nozzles and the volume of water flowing.

  • Beautiful! clean and simple!

  • Nice work, easy and simple, I plan do something similar in peruvian Andes using recicled parts to build the generator>

  • This is awesome!!! I will try to build a hydro electric water wheel too!!!

  • Great job. How much friction loss do you have in that small diameter pipe?

  • How much dose one of these cost?

  • how much power can be generated by this micro hydropower?

  • Not much. Not to mention hydro isn't concidered green energy because flooding can cause some pollution by breaking down plants. But it is an okay system. If you live like where he is and don't use much power. But if you live in a northern city where AC is crucial it's worthless without secondary power sources.

  • it would be a good system for WV we got streams everywhere

  • very good job !!

  • very cool set up. how many feet of head on the unit?

  • this is really cool im up in portland i really need property with water and slope now

  • The land with water is the expensive part. I made something similar using a tidal pool along the ocean, some years ago. But if you can find land with a four-season stream, you're better off than building something for the scale of the ocean.

  • Great video thanks. What about snow and ice? Have you made a plan to prevent it?
