musically maybe, but the magic is in the words. I listen to a lot of german songs because in nearly every one words are new created oder new used. They create pictures in your head and often they they rhyme. You can't understand that but in German language you are allowed to change and compose words freely or use them for unusual descriptions. So most songs aren't a piece of music but piece of declaimed poetry. Please don't assessing before understanding

And there is such a tradition of great "hand made" music here....not just the plastic charts crap...but artists like Lana Del Ray to Bright Eyes to Robert Francis. Music is not about how many records you can sell worldwide. Music is all about whether you can relate to it or not. @Nick0701 Buddy, I meant it would be a terrible, lame world where everything had the same meaning or worth. The very tenet of music criticism is that all music is not equal. Of course it isn't a science or a sport...but in this example you can quite clearly hear who badly this guy sings, and how out of tune his guitar is. It's amateur. And sadly it's a symptom of the general malaise of German music. Some geek loser like this wouldn't get a look in in the states or the UK, or anywhere else.

@Nick0701 It's not about selling records. This guy obviously uses this platform to squeeze in his crap. He obviously wants to be a credible artist....and he clearly isnt. I was born in the Netherlands but live mainly in the states. And there is such a tradition of great "hand made" music here....not just the plastic charts crap...but artists like Lana Del Ray to Bright Eyes to Robert Francis. And they all make this guy sound like a singing geography teacher.

@Internetpolice666 You can't really compare Lana Del Rey with this guy.She's a much better singer, no question at all. But this guy is part of a great platform that gives German indie artists the chance to show themselves. And really, I heard a lot of good music here. Germany definately got very talented songwriters and artists, as every other country does. Philipp Poisell, Alin Coen, Florian Ostertag or Enno Bunger are one of those gifted musicians, just to name a few.

I do believe there must be some talent in Germany, but allowing this guy to squeeze his crap in just reinforces the bad reputation German music has. And he obviously thinks he kinda good. Funny that you mention German music having a bad reputation. You are aware of the fact that it were German composers like Beethoven and Bach who shaped music into a form that provided the basis for all contemporary music? Without them, music wouldn't be what it is today.

And by the way: It seems that some of the successful American Artists nowadays don't even know what a guitar actually is (see latest records of e.g. Black Eyed Peas), let alone how to tune it. Obviously you don't know either, because this guitar is tuned just fine. Sometimes he just doesn't hit the notes perfectly, which can happen when playing live.
