  • well....certainly not the best band out there...where's the blend and balance? brass sounds too bright, however loud they may be.

  • FUCK USC BAND GRAMBLING STATE NIGGA

  • Love this chart. I also love how the haters just can't stay away. It's the same tired argument that being buddy buddy ass kissers with the opposing band is the "adult" thing to do. We all did it in HS. Grow a pair, do your gig and if you really love hanging out with the other band so much, join 'em. In person (I was stand about 6 feet away from the camera person), the TMB had more volume, better intonation, readable articulation, steadier rhythm and better crowd response.

  • "i'm majoring in it," - cubsfan9890

you are majoring in marching band?

    that's pathetic.

    fight on.

    -... sucks

  • hahaha fight on wahoobeans.

anyway i am actually in the band.

and id like to say that the music is actually pretty difficult. maybe it wasnt always like that but definitely now it is.

and we are the best band in the universe so fuck off and fight on

  • hey maple bar,

you couldn't identify me by my band name?????

    wat the hell!!!

    formerly goku, #2b, or/and ...sucks.

  • i love usc and there marching band

  • good song choice (jamiroquai)..well played.

  • LOL @ the dancing Trojan.

  • La verdad me gusta mucho esa banda, soy de guatemala y toco en la PATRIA MARCHING BAND y espero algun dia poder toparnos

  • no one cares how well someone plays a 40 year old led zeppelin chart. lack of balance? brightness of sound? if true, who cares? did we entertain the crowd with some songs from this millenium, yes. go flame someweher else.

  • first of all, stairway is at least a song that is recognizable. most people had probably never even heard your music. secondly, any half-way decent musician would care about balance and producing a good ensemble sound. as far as entertainment goes, the crowd was much more responsive when the illinois band took the field.

  • finally, i would just like to say that no (decent) illinois fan has claimed that we have a better football team than you- our team very much got outperformed by your team, and congratulations again, but why does it seem that no one from the usc band can at least say a kind word to the illinois band, or perhaps even admit that you might have been outperformed?

  • because you came on here and started talking shit. i don't recall the, "hey, nice game guys" or anything to that effect. great halftime show: stairway to heaven then the fight song. wow, did you work all year on that one?

  • i would hardly call what i did talking shit. it was my intention to make a fair evaluation of the situation, not to mention it can't be shit if it's true, and the illinois band sounded much more balanced and played with more clarity. secondly, people in the usc band have no room to talk about the music any other band plays. when you learn how to play more than 3 songs then talk. until then, keep working all year on the pregame show/stands tunes since they're the same

  • I agree with cubsfan A mature person that understands& respects their school & are a member of a known college band would act with more pride & respect for guests.I think it would be a good idea to reevaluate the level of an ensmble you are & think about positivly reflecting your school & organization. The Illinois Band did a fine representation of how a college band should be& how to perform at a college level not only as musicians but mature adults.

  • Looking back on the game despite of who wins or loses you have to ask your self if you brought pride to your team. Some of the remarks & actions from members in your band should not have been said in uniform. you can hate illinois fans all you want & talk smack but all you did was hurt your schools & own reputation doing it in your uniforms. Congrats on winning the rose bowl,& I hope next year you go again& show more class.

  • then you should expand your variety of music.. its a much harder song to play maybe thats why you dont get. dont reply i dont want to hear such arrogance.

  • oh please, don't give me that crap. first of all you guys have absolutely NO room to talk about expanding repetoire. you guys play like 3 songs and still suck at them. also don't try to claim that your music's so hard, when it obviously isn't. get the band to learn how to play then talk.

  • your lame why do you get mad on internet and how would you know whats hard if you havent heard the music. Oh and i dont go to usc.. but i like the team... get a life bro

  • first of all, i know the music. i said most people at the game probably hadn't heard it, not that i hadn't. also, if you don't know anything about band, maybe you shouldn't talk like you know about it. i'm majoring in it, and i know what i'm talking about. they don't play with a good sound, and they don't march cleanly. that's all there is to it. and there music isn't hard.

  • they don't march cleanly because they marching using high step. if you're used to marching with a roll step, then obviously, this isn't clean to you. the music isn't hard, but how many bands play hard music when marching? they're a band to entertain, not to show off musical talent.

  • Look, i'm not trying to argue with you, but we also use a high step in pregame, and we still make straight lines. Also, if they don't try to show off musical talent they need to stop acting like they're "the best band in the universe". My point about the usc band is that they all try to say that no one compares to them, and that's simply not true. Better than most-sure, but in a league by themselves, certainly not.

  • i understand your point completely, but i'm sure they're just having fun. i know some members of the TMB and i know that they're not as self-righteous as they come off to be. everyone likes to believe they're better than most, and they're just saying that because, well, they don't see any other really good bands at football games, so they're the best band in their conference. what school are you from?

  • i admit that i'm biased, i go to illinois, but that's not why i'm commenting here. i'm commenting here because i think that the people in the usc band (obviously not all of them) shouldn't talk as arrogantly about themselves as they do. Also, they said some terribly rude and vulgar things to the people in our band. Things we'd be embarassed about if we ever said to anyone. I'm just saying they shouldn't talk like that, especially with the flaws in their performance.

  • we're not out there to make friends with people we most likely will never see again. I am curious to know what some people said to you guys, message me. I was just obnoxiously loud standing next to illini band peeps waiting for halftime.

  • i understand we're not necessarily "out there to make friends," although i fail to see the problem with that, but we do treat every band with respect. the western illinois band came to champaign this year with 100-some people, but we didn't make fun of them, and we certainly didn't harass them. we showed them respect and congratulated them on their performance. as far as what was said they called some people fat f---s and told them to do the parade over again, and they harassed some of the girls

  • @scoobjr I would just like to know where YOUR Sudler Award is USC...the Marching Illini doesn't talk...we perform

Anyone can park and blow like you guys but it takes WAY more skill to be named the nation's premiere college marching band (ask ANY Big Ten Marching Band)

That's just a feeling that you will never know.....

  • I live in Oregon and basically I'm the biggest USC Trojans fan in my town. But, you are right.

(Juice Williams couldn't even run the ball and got stopped by big Rey Maualuga.)

  • Thank you for posting this up.

  • this whole culture is so far detached from th quiet half time pie that you would get in the uk but that was a fantastic performance

  • YEEEEAH You know this boogie is for real...

  • If you're tired of hearing Conquest, you should politely ask your team to stop losing.

  • I agree.

  • Yeah, Jamiroquai is for real!!

  • because shitty camera quality feedback totally means its the band's fault right? As for illini band.. way to do the same halftime show michigan did at last year's rose bowl... i don't know if i can take seeing the same shitty show for a 3rd time

  • no one cares.

  • The Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe

  • Maybe if "the universe" only includes 4th graders, ashlee simpson, and deaf people...
